Alright. Say what you will about Final Fantasy III's total lack of story, and annoyingly drawn, overweight cast of kids. One thing I credit this entry with is the introduction of the job class. Now, I didn't like the job class as much in this game, due to the sometimes extreme wait times for characters to adjust to new roles, but I do recognize that Square took this rough edged job system and mastered it for FFV. And I enjoyed V's job system greatly. So, how does everyone feel about Final Fantasy III?

FF 3 NES might be the best looking NES game and one of the best games on the NES. I hope we get a 2d version translated and released like FF4 complete on the psp eventually. Who knows maybe for the 30th FF Anniversary.
I prefer the 2d version.
I will be talking about the 3d version though. Things it did good.
enormous overworld for the time. Many of us were surprised that first time when you leave the smaller world and navigate the forgotten continent and discover it was only a small part of an enormous world. That part will always stay in my mind and my reaction of the game being bigger.
one of the hardest yet awesome final dungeons I was always scared of dying in Eureka or scaling the Crystal Tower. the infamous point of no return and boss gauntlet fights no FF except for 5 sorta did this. started job classes system although problematic it started it and led to the awesome FF5 job system. very good music even for NES games.
Elia/Aria Maiden of Wind is a good but brief character and her music theme is beautiful.
Also the game has no real damage limit. Your character can do 9999 damage but it could be a 17,000 hit. Doing massive damage with a Black Belt or Ninja endgame is awesome and you can destroy all enemies fast.

True. That final area theme is one of my favorites in the series.

True. That final area theme is one of my favorites in the series. By final are which do you mean? Crystal Tower? Or the Dark World Crystal area? or the final boss theme? I love them all

The original game on the nes had the onion knight as the starting class, that also became the best class after a certain level. It also didn't make your dudes have to adjust to the job switch. I hope they re-release it like the PSP one also.

I'm about 20 hours into FFIII and so far it's alright! I will say, the storyline is super generic but every now and then along the way something surprising happens (a few NPC deaths). I am enjoying the job class system and I like how fluidly you can switch between them even though it takes two battles until you can start leveling that class up. Right now I have Luneth as a Dragoon, Arc as a Black Mage, Refia is my White Mage, and Ignus is my Ranger. Another thing I find fun about this installment is your ship! It can do all the things. First it's a boat, then an airship, and then a submarine!

Good point. The Airship in III was fantastic. I kind of want to go back and defeat every enemy now... Odin will pay for his crimes against me!!!!
