Has anyone ever mastered this card game? I just barely managed to scrap my way through the tournament that you are forced to play.
I was having trouble with the tournament so I looked up an FAQ on how to tell which cards were better. "01P00" doesn't really tell me all that much... But as soon as I saw that hexadecimal was involved, as well as levels of mathematics that I haven't used since high school, my brain pretty much such down and I bluffed my way through the tournament.
I'm glad that I got through the tournament, because I don't want to play the card game again...
Otherwise, I'm having a blast replaying FFIX after so many years. I just got on the third disk today.

At first I didn't get it. But then I forced myself to learn the rules and after 30 minutes I really got the hang of it and started winning like all the matches I did in the game. Its my favorite card game in FF and its actually enjoyable and fun in my opinion.
You just have to try and grasp it and since the rules don't change like FF8 *cringe* its a lot better to understand.

Tetra Master Online was a majority portion to why I continued to pay for FFXI when it first came out. I was able to play with other people and with newer cards!
Now there's rumor of Triple Triad coming to mobile and synchronizing with Final Fantasy XIV. I enjoy these times.

When I first played it, I mastered it. I even remember trying to buy just the card game (I think there was a release). When I went back to play the game a couple of years later, I had totally forgot how to play. It is also hard to find the desire to relearn. Kind of a "been there, done that" mentality.

Yeah, Tetra was hard to master but when you did you felt like you were on top of the world.
Triple Triad was easier to learn and also easier to master and the only reason to play wasn't to collect the cards necessarily (though I did for 100% completion) but to mod the cards into the items for the ultimate weapons.
for a quick game give me TT
if i want complex card games give me MTG =P

All in all, I think that I like Hot and Cold Chocobo better as a mini game in FFIX. Considering the post-tramatic stress I have from the Chocobo racing mini game in FFX, I put this off until Disk 4. But I had fun with this mini game. Having fun with FFIX chocobos almost makes me forgive them for FFX Chocobo racing... almost...

I'm gonna go ahead and say something controversial. I actually preferred this card game to Triple Triad. I got it a lot faster. Not going to say i've 'mastered it' but I got it easier.
The other one is coming out on iOS as well as in XIV right? (off topic I know)

I liked this one more than Triple Triad, too. Yeah, the other game will appear in XIV. I would like to see XIV become a place to experience something from each XIV. I am not saying that there should be a zone for each game (but I would definitely buy it if they did).

I like Tetra Master a lot more than Triple Triad. I was surprised when the guys on the podcast said they weren't liking the card game in FF9 so far. Seriously guys just take some time and learn it. Once you do the rules don't change and you can become unbeatable and get really cool items and stuff.

I played ot for the tournament, and it was fine. I can see that it's intended to give us a break from the story, as are all side quests, but I'm enjoying the story! But now that I understand the game, I do prefer it over triple triad.
