The debate continues as to whether or not to play 11 after 10 or to move on to 12...
Now, we have said we'll put it to a vote, but it may be that Kaleb and I just make the call. Kaleb wants to just move onto 12, but here are some reasons why he should change his mind:
1. A big part of going through the main games in order is to see how the series has evolved over time. True, it's an MMORPG, but it's also a roman numeral game (whether we like it or not). 2. Kaleb loves FF12, which was modeled after FF11. Huge environments, no random battles, a rustic feel. C'mon. 3. Besides the crystal chronicle games, this will be one of our only opportunities to play a game together. We can log on at say 9pm every night and stream the content to the listeners. 4. Should you guys want, you can join us for our playthrough, which would be something really cool. 5. True, FF11 used to be grindy in nature (levels used to take forever), but if you poke around the internet you'll find people claiming you can get from level 1 to 99 in a day if you're really up to it due to patch updates though the last couple years. In other words, the game should take us less than 100 hours to get through the "main story" (which will be considerably less than FF12). What's the plan? We'd do the Bastok Missions only. 20 missions. We can, I believe, time it so that if we do 1 mission every 3 days, and level up a little more than once per day, we can beat the "main story" (not including expansions or other nation storylines) in less than 2 months. Which, for the large FF games (10 on) would be about average. 6. If we do 11 we'll also do 14, which I've calculated to be 1 level up per day and 3 main scenario quests, which considering how short the quests are in 14, isn't bad. We all want to play 14.
How do you guys weigh in?

How do you guys weigh in? Ok first I think you guys should play X-2 right after beating X, for continuity sake. Actually I think you guys should have played The After Years right after FF4 and maybe Crisis Core and Dirge right after FF7... I sure hope when you beat FF13 that you will go on directly to 13-2 and 13-3. And maybe you can forget about playing FF12 Revenant Wings right after beating FF12... lol. But I dunno maybe you are right about play through the main games first and then the sequels. Here is what I think you guys should do regarding FF11. Keep playing through the main games and maybe once you beat FFX see where you are in terms of total listeners and what you want to do. Here is my idea. start promoting the FF11 playthrough as soon as possible on each new podcast episode. Say that you need at least 10-20 listeners to join in and be able to commit and play FF11 every day for just 1 month and see how far we can all get in FF11 together. Everyone can easily buy it on Steam, FF11 runs on even the most ancient computers easily. Get the listeners involved and we get 1 month of subscription free if I remember correctly and we all try to finish it in that period of time. Get the North American and European listeners involved and we can all meet up and play online every day together at a time good for us all, for the podcast. I never played FF11 but I'm dedicated to playing 1 month straight with you guys if we get a group together. I'm sure some of the board users here would be up for it and so would other listeners. Try reddit, facebook and twitter and get some other people involved that way too. Just start promoting this idea now on the podcast and say something like "we are thinking of getting a bunch all our listeners to commit to playing FF11 together as a group once we beat FFX and we need to get some confirmation from you all if you want to do this so let us know on the boards, by email, twitter etc. if you can join us in our FF11 playthrough." Would be nice if we could revive FF11 to its glory days for a month if we all played as a group because there is hardly anyone playing it now lol.

I like a good chunk of these ideas. We should be finishing FFIX (this is the plan, always subject to change) by Feb 7. Because of the length of the games of 10, 12, and 13, we're gonna start giving ourselves 2 months to play each game instead of just 1. We're going to start timing them a lot better as I dropped the ball hardcore on FF7 and FF8 behind the scenes. I failed to do any extra stuff in 8 because I got burnt out and depressed and it ended up taking too long. To give the same time limit on 50+ hour games as we did on 25 hour games would be too much for me. So although I like the everyone plays for a month thing, there's no way to get through the "story" of 11 without REALLY pushing for it. I've got a lot of projects going on as well as work and that's just not enough time.
Kaleb and I both agreed on 2 months. I got him on my side yesterday about all this while we were playing 9. We WILL be going to 11 after 10 for the reasons I mentioned, and 14 after 13. Our goal will be to do the minimum to beat the main storyline quests of the games (expansions not included) in those 2 months. Sequels like 10-2 and 4 have to wait because we are currently on the quest to beat the main games. After the mains will be the sequels to the mains (We could move onto 11 expansions if we end up digging 11, but we'll decide that later), so 4 interlude, after years, 7 compilation, 10-2, Revenandfjh wings and ivalice alliance series, and then 13-2 and -3.
Here's what I think we'll use. We'll announce the date we'll start playing 11 every episode while we're working on ten. We can probably gather a couple forum members to join us, at least we hope. The game is made so people CAN solo it now, so if no one joins we'll be okay. Certainly would like it if you joined us Shinru. We're looking at around April 5, and the plan is to play nightly at 9pm MTS and have Kaleb stream the whole adventure.

Just so you you know But anyway I'm ok with that idea. Just so you know FF9 and FF10 both take around 45-50 hours to beat but FF12 and FF13 take 50-60 hours to beat. howlongtobeat.com/Would be nice to join you guys along with other forum members and listeners for the XI playthrough.

I beat IX in 32 hours the first time, 10 took me 56.... A little long according to that site? I didn't really do anything extra either, the story had me pretty hooked.
We're at Disc 2 at about 8 hours right now, so I think we'll be okay.
12 took me 58hrs and 13 took me 62, so those seem to match up just about right as far as my past experience.
Sorry about the spelling...
