This question is for the entire forum:
Other than FF, what game series is one that you can't live without? For me it's the Legend of Zelda, and I'll find a way to buy a new console if a new Zelda will be coming out for it. I have beaten every Zelda game and my knowledge of each rivals my FF knowledge. Well, what are some of your favorite series?

This is still a great question. Ask the guys directly, maybe they can move it to the correct folder.
Besides FF, I follow(ed) a few series.
Ghosts of Series Past Tony Hawk Pro Skater. I looked forward to buying one of these a year. When the series became THUG, I still enjoyed it but felt a little overwhelmed by all the options. I never got into Ride (or other games with peripherals to buy).
WWE Smackdown. I followed the first four, but nothing seemed to beat 3 - Just Bring It. It had the right balance of career matches and options. The story modes just seemed to get shorter and shorter as the series went on, so I stopped following.
Twisted Metal. Twisted Metal 2 and Black are my favorites. I followed Head On and especially loved the note saying that all the developers died, hehe. The PS3 game was not what I was hoping for, so I stopped following.
Xenosaga. I would have played this up to episode whatever. I secretly hoped for a tie in to Xenogears, though it was never officially stated - just fan dreams.
Manachemia. Another series that just stopped. The two games are really fun, and tie into a main JRPG series. I can't remember which one, but I main turn to that one in the future.
Ghosts of Series Present Persona. Someone recommended Persona 3:FES to me when I told them that I needed something akin to Old School FF. The recommendation came with a few caveats, but I loved FES. I went back and played the first two. Not my cup of tea, but P4 was great, and I can't believe what a different game P4 Golden is. From this game I branched out to SMT and Devil Survivor games. But not everything Atlus puts out is gold, there have been a few wtf moments with games I have purchased sporting the Atlus tag.
Burnout. I only own two games (and they are not current), but Burnout is one of the series I would turn to when I need a break from RPGs.
GTA. Another series I turn to when I need a break from RPGs. I enjoy these because I can either play the game or just drive around listening to music and causing mayhem.
Ghosts of Series Future I picked up a Tales of Xilia 2 and Saint's Row IV on the cheap. Both of these look like they will scratch itches and possibly introduce me to itches I did not know I even had. I played Tales of the Abyss, loved it, and can imagine wanting to go back and play all the Tales games.
There are other series that I enjoyed, but never felt the urge to pick up more games in the series because all the games felt the same. I am fine getting one Rock Band/Guitar hero type game. I imagine the same would be true with DDR type games.

Good list. I was a fan of the smackdown games too, but my favorite are the "Day of Reckoning" games for the GameCube. If you have access to a GameCube or wii it's worth picking them up, even though the storyline in the game is dated.

Persona is definitely a series i follow now. Even follow the various anime and non JRPG games. Like dancing all night long.
As for a JRPG series i used to follow, that would be the Suikoden series. I used to love them games, and secretly wish they would make a 6th one.
Other than those two series it seems i have been really following Ubisoft these days. Sure they have problems, but i can find something i love in each one of them especially Far Cry 4.

GTA, Twisted Metal, and Legend of Zelda were pretty sweet when a break was needed. Elder Scrolls and Phantasy Star were good to play for Western RPGs. The Metroid series was another good series that is hard to live without.
However I'm a big sucker for dystopian and post-apocalyptic atmospheres so Borderlands and Fallout are probably highest on my list.

The Metal Gear series made a big impact upon me, my tastes and my interests. Starting from Metal Gear Solid on the PSX I've followed the series religiously. Everything from the art style to the over the top characters and story-lines I love and it's probably the other series apart from FF that I've replayed the most.
Tony Hawk 1-8 as a series is responsible for shaping everything from my music taste to my lifestyle choice (It's because of Pro Skater 1 that I started skateboarding in 1999 and continue to do so to this day.
Those are the two most important ones to me personally.

I'm glad to hear there's another die hard metal gear fan! It seems like after MGS4 a lot of people were turned off by the storyline. I can't say I blame them though because the story in that game was hard to follow even for a fan of the over the top scenarios in their games. I'm hoping MGS5 gets back to the games roots again!

The series that I really REALLY love the most, probably couldn't live without, am most connected to and will buy and try to play every game in the series are:
Final Fantasy Kingdom Hearts Metal Gear Solid Sonic the Hedgehog Super Smash Bros Legend of Zelda Shin Megami Tensei/Persona
Then there are a few other series I enjoy, like the Xeno series, Phantasy Star, Ys, Fire Emblem, Tony Hawk, Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Donkey Kong etc. but the list above are my absolute favorites.

Metal gear solid is, well, solid. I've thoroughly enjoyed each entry that I have played, and feel that the games just keep getting better as time goes on. I also really like Grand Theft Auto, San Andreas being my favorite thus far. Another is Resident Evil. I enjoy them up until VI, which I havent tried out yet. And of course, Bioshock. Bioshock Infinite was a fantastic game. It improved on everything that the first two entries brought, and is one of the best FPS games I've ever played.

Civilization has always been a big one for me, although lately I've been all about the Souls series.

I play a ton of games but looking back on my entire gaming history there are only 2 series that I consistently play and enjoy besides Final Fantasy. They are:
Mario Super Smash Brothers
Some of my earliest memories are of Mario and I've played every Mario platformer ever. I love that series.
Super Smash Brothers was a game I picked up on N64 and have been consistently playing across every Nintendo platform since then.

Agree entirely, even with explanatory videos of the series plot I find the story (surrounding and) of difficult to follow exactly. That really sounds like wishful thinking judging by the trailers and footage I've seen of TPP by the way! I mean, who knows though, Kojima knows what he's doing and is a master at misdirection so maybe the zaniness of the trailers are a way to throw us off and we will have a more, ahem, coherent/ easy storyline.
