Here is a tip for dodging the required 200 lightning bolts to obtains Lulus sigil.
I recommend coming back to the thunder plains later in the game after you have collected equipment with the encounter null ability, as this will make the lightning dodging much easier.
On the screen just before you reach the travel agency, about midway through the area, there is a rounded alcove on the minimap to your left. The right hand side of the minimap has an area that is shaped more like a small square that juts out and backward (I believe there is a cactaur statue here). In this area closer to the rounded alcove on the left you will find a crater. Every time you approach the crater lightning will strike. YOU know have control of when the Lightning will strike every time! Simply walk up to the crater, press X to dodge, back away from the crater, and repeat. This is the easiest method I have found to dodging the necessary 200 bolts.

A huge tip that I found on the internet that has helped me dodge 200 lightning bolts every time (I don't even use the crater method. There are places around the Thunder Plains were lightning strikes much more often than normal. You can find lightning maps online that tells you were lightning strikes almost constantly.) Anyway, mute the volume on whatever device you are using. A big problem that many players, and myself, ran into is that with heightened nerves, we'd hear the sound of thunder and press X. Thunder is not the cue, but the flash of lightning. If lightning flashes immediately after you pressed X for thunder, you will not dodge it, because the game automatically stops you from dodging if you attempt to button mash X.
Another helpful hint is to take breaks. Break down 200 into a more manageable number, like 25. Dodge 25 lightning bolts, and pause the game. Now go on a walk, or make lunch, so surf the web for a little while. Then come back and dodge the next set. Then take a break. It's a lot easier to dodge 25 bolts in a row than 200.
Write down how many you've done. After every set of 25, I'd write down somewhere keeping count: 25, 50, 75, and so on. This will just help you for when you reach 200. And when you reach 200, do just a few more, just in case. You won't believe how many people dodged 199 bolts, and left the area because they thought they had 200, only to be left screaming in a rage.

There's definitely a few "sweet spots" where the lighting is more frequent. Honestly though I think the 200 bolt challenge is almost entirely a mental game. I mean, pressing X when you see a flash of light is really pretty simple, but the challenge comes with the nerves, pressure, and length required to hit 200.
Everyone will approach it differently but for me I like to mute my TV, put on some very calming ambient music to soothe my nerves, and just focus very intently without trying to get too jittery or anything. Also make sure there are no other potential distractions, put your phone on silent for example. I think if you can keep yourself calm and focused the hard part is already over.

Turning the volume down and eliminating distractions help, but if you use the crater method you know exactly when lightning is going to strike. You end up getting in a rhythm and it's pretty easy after that.

If I can do the super dunk mini game in VII, I should be more than capable of doing this!

Battman is right - It's all about finding a rhythm. I took a break every 40 or so to help me stay relaxed, and that made it a bit less... Stressful Only took me two tries of doing it. I got to about 160 and then my roommate came out of his room and tried to talk to me. Had to start over... LOL

Guys..... You are not going to believe this shit.... So I spent almost three hours working on dodging lighting. I finally moved to "the sweet spot" once I mastered the timing. I then proceeded to get all 200 with no problem. So I walked back, looted the hell out of the chest and walked into the al bhed shop. I called up Joe, and was in the process of bitching about how it was only a bronze trophy, and my ps3 froze.... Just froze. I was livid! Three hours down the shitter, and no save?!?!?$?$? So I re loaded my game and did it again, and was able to save. Quite possibly the worst imaginable time for that thing to freeze!!

From an outsider point of view, that would be hilarious. However, I can empathize and that is a horrible thing to happen. What perfect timing for the PS3 to freeze right after that grueling ordeal.

Oh man that's brutal. Although like banedrom said, I think it will make for a funny story.

Oh man that's brutal. Although like banedrom said, I think it will make for a funny story. Really what made it funny was that Kaleb called Joe to tell him about it and that is when it froze. Remove that from the equation and it is just a sad mishap. The phone call is what made it funny.
