Not sure about anyone else, but IX is my favorite in the entire series. No question, no doubt.
I got it a month after release as a gift for doing well in school and did nothing else but play it after school and during weekends.
It just seems (to me) like everything a final fantasy should have and be. Interesting story, awesome characters, villians with a motive and a great battle system. The music score was spot on as well, melody of life and the crystal theme were great themes. Kuja's theme and dark messenger are burnt into my mind.
Now, I know everyone has different opinion and this just happens to be mine. I've played ALL the games in the series, but this remains my all time favorite.
Whats your thoughts on 9? Did you love it, hate it or never even play it? Shame on you if you havent though!
I was a little bummed by the guide, though. Did anyone get that? Only half the information was in the book. To get the rest, you had to log in to PlayOnline only to find out that the site was broken. I also bought the card game, but could never get it to work on my computer.
I put this game in my PS2 and did not turn it off until 4 hours later. The next day I bought the soundtrack (Short, American version - all I could find). I used to play this game from 5am to 10am every day before work. I have since tried to get up early to play games, but nothing has been able to drag me out of bed like IX did.
When I am between games and cannot think of something to play (has not happen since I found the Persona series), I would often just play IX until I fought the Waltzes.
As a side note: I blame/praise? this game for me getting into Linkin Park. When this game came out, people made AMVs set to most of the singles from Hybrid Theory. I watched these so much, I came to associate those songs with the game (at least those scenes). The same thing happen with Vertical Horizon and FFVIII.
