A few episodes back, Joe mentioned buying clothes. I always were Dickies shorts, and they end up being pretty baggy. Recently I decided to buy "big boy" shorts that actually fit and do not go past my knees. I got a lot of comments, all pretty positive.
What are your thoughts on this aspect of fashion? Dressing your age and all that. I am all for dressing appropriately for a given situation, but lately I have started to wonder if there is some sort of dad casual for my age group based upon observations of how those around me dress and how my own buddies' styles have changed as they started having kids.

Haute Dad Casual....could totally a be a thing. I applaud your foray into the world of "big boy" shorts, and sincerely hope that you did not purchase jorts. My own personal fashion consists of only wearing black, grey, and white. This is wonderful because everything matches, all the time. I never have to actually think about getting dressed, since there's never that awkward moment where you wind up putting on turquoise jeans with a salmon colored polo. Turquoise jeans are a thing. Females seem to be all about certain colors for certain seasons.Gag. As for dressing your age...I feel like this is one I'll never catch up on. I have two types of clothes myself- stuff that is acceptable to wear to work, since I must dress "business casual", and all my other stuff, which is basically jeans, t-shirts, and recently a ton of sleeveless tops since I like looking at my FF tattoos in progress. (Hi Terra.) I've been pushing the fashion envelope at work lately and seeing what I can get away with, since summers in Pittsburgh seem to be bullshit degrees with humidity upwards of fuckthisIcan'tbreathe%. I'd say just stick with what you're comfortable with- if you like it, and are comfortable in it, rock it. I don't think Dads, or Moms, or anyone, should have to adhere to a standard of dressing to please others. That being said- I recently took a trip to California, tried my hand at looking cute and girly, and bought some skirts with questionable prints on them. Leopard print is not my thing.

I've got to say that shorts above the knee is a deal breaker for me. I am tall and big (6'4" and 245). I have two options for clothes. Big and Tall, stores which just bend over over the counter for prices, or take a chance at Kohls and JC Pennies kinds of stores and pray they carry my size.
I have to buy what has only recently become a style of clothes, the Athletic Fit. I have big arms and shoulders. This means my clothes and usually super tight on the arms (I'll reference Arnold from Twins) and super baggy in the waist. Big and Tell tends to run, well big and tall, and regular department stores tend to run for in muscled wimps (no offense to any wimps who may read the forums). I also teach elementary school and that has an impact.
Work is usually a button up and pants. Jeans on Fridays with the school t-shirt. In winter I love me some sweater vests.
Casual, I wear shorts all year round. I have since I was a teenager. I wear workout shorts around the house and Jean/Khaki shorts out. Rule of thumb is always long shorts. No to the ankles but I am just not comfortable with shorts above the knee.

Female jeans aren't sold by inseam, except for a few locations (Buckle, Macy's) and those locations like to charge 70 to 100 for aforementioned jeans- especially if they have some nonsense "embellishment" on them. No, I don't want gem flowers on my pockets. I'm 6 ft tall, and buying jeans is the worst. If I find a pair that I like and that are long enough, I buy 2 or 3 pairs. Sweater vests.....makes me think of that song Mr. Burns sings in a super early episode of the Simpsons. See my vest, see my vest, made from real gorilla chest...

No to the ankles but I am just not comfortable with shorts above the knee. I was (am?) a shorts below the knee guy, too. But I started noticing that some of my shorts had the crouch closer to the knee than they should be. I have heard of old man balls, but I don't need that much room yet. If I can find some shorts that go below the knee but put the crouch and waist at an "adult level" then I will definitely be picking those up next.

What are jorts and skirts these are terms I have never heard before. I work in a warehouse so the dress attire is extremely slack. So much so I can walk into work with super baggy cargo shorts and a ff t shirt and they are totally OK with it. With that being said this job has kinda killed the idea of work appropriate attire I have seen all my life. I have worked here for almost 5 years and have Never been told to change clothings EVER! I work and have fun in the same clothes all day. Mind this not a good idea but if your like me and don't give 2 middle fingers. Then go with what you feel is comfortable.
