As some of you may know heavansward has dropped and I preordered a copy so gained early access and I was curious if some of our fellow ff xiv players are already in enjoying the game. Please give some thoughts on your experience so far.

I only made it to level 30 and level 30 in the story before my trial run expired. I'll renew when te podcast gets to XIV.
I also preordered and had early access, but I was not of level to explore anything anyways. I would have liked playing a dragon person though.

I've been playing Heavensward since early access and the story has absolutely been the standout feature for me. I think the story was more engaging then the initial ARR story. In addition, because the cast was smaller it allowed them to really flesh them out and have them grow over the course of the game. It really felt like you were on this journey with your unlikely crew like in older FFs which is a great feeling to have again. Besides all that I love the zones. I think they're not just massive but are designed very well. I know people complain since they have to traverse a lot to find the aether currents and subsequently fly but I think it was a smart choice. It forces you to explore and learn the lay of the land. Having flying right away would take away what little danger the world has immediately after entering an area. Plus....it's not even that hard to traverse versus what's seen in other games. And lastly I love all my new spells and how different my job feels. I'm very pleased with the expansion so far

The expansion has been amazing thus far. The story really ramps up my excitement and the traveling you do from area to area almost feels about the size as a ff11 area which is great as its hot more detail. The added bonus of the difficulty of mobs getting you is great if only they were a bit tougher seeing as which I was i128 when I walked into the expansion the fist time and it dealt a bit too easy for me personally. Love the new job classes of the dark knight along with the machinist and the astrologist. I am waiting until the guys of uff jump in so I can relive the glory of the story line all over again.

I'm getting my character started tonight, the digital copy is taking forever to dl, so hopefully I'll be on. First mmo for me but since it's FF I can't really resist. I'm debating between the Ninja and Dragoon classes, both seem pretty cool. We'll see how it goes. I'll be on the Brynhyldyr server to join Rockzo and the guys when they finish XIII.

I'll pay to move my character if need be but I'm pretty sure Rockzos offer is too good to refuse. I'm pretty sure they'll jump on Brynhyldr.

It took about that long for me too and didn't even get the Heavens Ward expansion yet. So far it seems a bit complicated with so many menus, things to buy, and of course the quests. I'm getting used to the city and the teleporting and killing some low level monsters. Story wise I'm not really sure what's going on yet, just running around. I couldn't get on the Brynhyldr server, I'm on Diablos for now. Other than that I think the game looks and sounds amazing. Cool customizable chararacters, I just wish every name I thought of wasn't taken. I could probably use some help, some random person came and helped me when I was messing with the menus while being attacked.

I regrettably found that out the hard way. I got on early the next day after I signed up and seen that your server was wide open. I'll definitely switch when we do the game play with the podcast or maybe sooner if I find more people who are on more often on that server. I do need a lot of help, which I've stated often that it's my first mmo, it's a lot to take in and I don't want to waste my time going in all different directions. My goal is always to be the most efficient. I reached level 10 last night with my pugilist, I've got a grip on the whole rotation thing for combat (I'm sure it'll be more complicated later), I reached the Goblet where I realized this is the best place to buy stuff so far, I'm still not sure on selling stuff. There are some configuration nuances that aren't clear to me; it seems like there are a lot of random nice people online trying to help I assume, I'm getting free company invites, and I have no idea how to join or chat back with them. The whole macro chat thing makes no sense to me, I'm like send me a party chat on PSN, this is how I play online (at least with GTA5 and other games). Or I could just be too impatient and I'm probably not supposed to be able to do that yet. I would love like a guide or syllabus for my pugilist to rogue to ninja. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm ranting and in a panic, I'm enjoying the game play and there are what I would think are really minor and basic things are making it really cloudy for me.

Ok judge there is a lot to know and I hope this doesn't get confusing so here we go. 1. Selling things As you have found in the goblet there is a lot of people hanging around a large board. This is the "market board" and will be the main interface you will need in order to properly sell all the items you have. When you want to sell something you will need to report to these boards found in every major town in eorzea. There are 2 boards in the northern end of ul'dah next to a bunch of counter sellers. Do not sell to the counter sellers they are ripping you off by selling you something for example 1000 Gil and when you sell it back to them they give you roughly 10 Gil. But here is where you learn to buy low and sell high on the market board. 2. Buying things With the information now at you disposal you are ready to start you journey of making money in the game. From here you need to proceed to join a guild/ craft house and talk to the guild house seller. This person will sell you low end materials to start you off on building items in the game. Buy the items from him/her and start crafting items. Once the item is made proceed to your main town market and search for a retainer seller. There you will buy a retainer, who is a npc that will work for you that you can customize to look like anyone. Now that you have a retainer proceed to the market board. Start looking for the item you wish to sell on the market. Once found click on it to reveal past prices sold. This is what you will look at to gauge prices for your stuff. You will need to compete with these selling prices in order to get a sale. Once you know how much you need to sell something at go to a summoning bell and select your retainer. Give him/her the item you wish to sell and then a prompt will appear after clicking on a menu icon that says something along the lines of "sell item on market" once the price is typed in click finish. There hou go now you know the basics of selling by things. 3. Chat In order to chat with fellow players you will need to know how to type certain texts or learn to click a specific icon to designate who you want to talk to. To say something in chat to anyone around you with no privacy type /say "insert conversation starter here." This will make your character be hear to anyone within a few feet or earshot. To say something to the entire location you are in ex. Southern thanalan. You will type /shout " insert very loud conversation starter here." This will allow your character to shout as loud as he/she can for anyone in the entire are to hear you. To talk to your fellow Free company members you will type /fc "insert conversation starter for your company here." To private message someone you will fist need their name. Then you will type /pm "insert name" "insert conversation starter here." And that is everything on the basics of chat. Have fun talking. Lol 4. Accepting free company invites. So you have just been given a invite to a fc. Good for you. Now look at your screen and look for a small rectangle normally found on the right side of the screen . There is a box with someone's name in it. Left click it and a prompt will appear asking if you wish to join. Make your choice and that's all. Also if you are looking for a specific free company you will need to look at the bottom right corner of the screen and click on the red button that has the word free company in it. There is a search function found inside to look for a specific free company. Now I don't remember the exact page to request a invite but you can always pm a member inside the group to ask for one. 5. Job skill combinations for starting a rotation. In most of the classes as you train you will learn new skills for every 5 levels. These skills can sometimes be chained together for a combo. In most jobs you won't really start forming a real rotation till around lvl20-25 then you will have enough skills to complete a full rotation. So to start you off with something simple, look for the very first move you learn in your class. Read up on its ability. Just about every fist skill can start a combo. You will notice from reading a skill that in the lower part of the description it says something along the lines of " combines with...." That will be the skill you will need to learn to form the next pice of the combo. Now that you have at least 2 skills that combine lets drag them down into the hot bar and put them in their order. "First move" "second move" . Now find a target to hit. Most of the time you will look for a fight dummy found at your fc. Or I the case that isn't available go to the little town with the name scorpion in it in the thanalan region. It's not a teleport point due to the fact it's so close to ul'dah. On the right side of town is a dummy to fight. 6 fighting with a combo Now that you have found your target let's start fighting. Use your "first move" first because for obvious reasons. Now once the move is completed look for a flashing ring around the "second move". Click on this move. You have now started a combo. Congrats And that's the basics folks hope you had fun and I will see you next time for Krinital's basics of FFXIV.
