Have any of you encountered any fellow FF fans this year in real life? Not counting people that you already knew of previously.
I remember hearing on a previous episode of Getting Phat that Joe said he met an FF fan near his work or something and got scared so he didn't go up to talk to him... Was that true lol? How did you know he was an FF fan without talking to him and how come you were scared of a fellow fan (I kinda agree with what Schweiss said about you being a chicken and he would have just went over to talk to the guy if he was in your shoes)
Usually I go to cons or game meet ups in my area or even local game stores and will randomly meet some FF fans and start discussing FF and we exchange info sometimes and stay in touch. Every year I usually meet about 5-10 FF fans on average.
Just this past spring I went into a Gamestop and met this younger guy picking up the entire FFXIII trilogy and wanted to preorder FFXV and the way he spoke about the series you could tell he was a big fan so I introduced myself and we started talking, turns out he is a big time Lightning fan and actually collects her memorabilia and stuff.
Its always fun to meet FF fans, do you guys have any cons or specific game conventions in you area where people meetup? Have you ever gone there and met any FF fans?

I met a fan of the UFFP show in Tampa a few days ago, was in the bed of the truck with another guy chillin, 2 other guys inside the truck driving it while we were in the back drinking and chatting. All of the sudden someone in a car came comes up starts honking we have no clue why i just assume it is some asshole and tried to ignore. I few minutes later he is still honking and pointing i figure he is pointing to the UFFP sticker on my bumper and assume he must be a fan of the show, or else he just enjoys bumper stickers lol So got to assume he is a fan of the series. wish we had stopped to talk a bit love chatting about FF with anyone who can bare to hear me prattle on.
Either way i went to my first convention awhile back and those are filled with FF fans always a joy to speak to people with similar interest like that :-)

^That is pretty funny. Can't say anything like that really happens to me. I don't really talk about games outside of this forum and in my head. We hired a guy at work who has played quite a few final fantasies, but I haven't talked to him much about it. It's not that I don't want to, but pretty much my entire life I have never known anybody that prefers RPGs like me. I had a roommate that liked pokemon but I think we really annoyed his girlfriend talking about it all the time haha.

I meet Final Fantasy fans in real life at least once a week. The Comic Book/Magic the gathering/Video game store I work at has a bunch of out of towners in the summer and you can meet a variety of fans. Usually happens once they start asking about video game recommendations and we always end up talking about FF or Chrono Trigger and the such. Super Mario RPG is in the conversation as well. It is really awesome meeting all the different people.
This one girl came in a few months ago wearing the Lionheart/Griever necklace from FF8 and we got to talking about it for over half an hour! Her boyfriend was less than enthused about waiting around for us to finish the conversation. She was a really nice lady. One of my boss' favorite games was Final Fantasy 6. We talk about that one sometimes.

That's my problem in a nutshelll i know a lot of people who game but relatively few that prefer RPG's like i do. I woudl talk to my friends a little about them but for the most part they could care less about RPGS they were more interested in games like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Mario, etc..... games i had less interest in. I don't know why i prefer RPG's mabey it has to do with those games focusing so much on story compared to most games or the grand scale of the world or maybe it is my love of numbers and liking to see the formulas under the game but for whatever reason always preferred them over most others. As a little kid used to annoy my mom and firends to no end with talk about these games which would drive her insane. Imagine a 7 year old just rattling out info about quests bosses items and leveling for a good hour lol That's why when i meet a fan who feels the same way about these games i can get a little cared away sometimes .

Oh definitely. I would love to do that if somebody could keep up with it but that's not easy to do. I remember when I was 10 and I got Legend of Dragoon, which was my first console RPG. I always asked my dad to come down and watch me play it (very boring I'm sure) and I would talk about it with him. He invariably fell asleep every time, so since then I have given up really trying. My older brother used to watch me play FFIX and he laughed at Quina (who I named FatEddy... again when I was younger) but he had literally no idea what the game was about because I knew there was no point explaining it. It's kind of depressing, really. But it's just hard to find somebody who can relate if they haven't played it.

Same thing on my end. Most of the people I know are no where near as connected to games as I am let alone rpg's. The only friends I do know that play games are only into table top and almost stay away from Video games aside from one or two who play a lot of fps style games. When the off chance I get a person to talk too that loves even the same genre as me I go into a tangent about final fantasy. Sometimes it gets weird when I bring it up but most are accomading to the conversation. So I always look forward to those times.

Everyone goes into hibernation until new Stars Wars movies are coming and then they all start creeping back out again lol I love it.

I haven't gone to any cons or gaming events recently- Obviously, there was a ton of FF fans at the Distant Worlds concert. I like that the FF fans seem to be, for the most part, rather friendly. The usual banter comes up- who's better, Sephiroth or Kefka? What did you think of X-2? (or any other sequel/ spin off) In my own day to day activities, I do run into FF fans quite a bit. Then again, I'm also wearing a beacon on my arm that says "I love Final Fantasy" in the form of multiple tattoos. The barista at a local coffee shop actually mentioned it just yesterday. <3 my fellow FF tribe members.

Yeah they are nice 99% of the time unless you find those few very angry bitter oldschool only fans that either love FF1-9 or FF1-10 and then say stuff like 10, 12 and 13 are all shit and 15 is going to be shit and FF sucks now and those games are garbage. Yet they never even bothered playing them....
