Lets say that you are a bigwig boss of a large Hollywood studio and have recently received the rights to a Final Fantasy game of your choice. You then look at your large list of directors and have to choose one which you think will be the best option for the movie. You will be in charge of them keeping close to the original story so they don't take any too many crazy liberties with the script.
What FF would you adapt into live action movie and what director would you choose?
Would you get Darren Aronofsky to direct FF6? Would you want Michael Bay to direct FF10 or 13? Would you have Christoper Nolan make FF8? What about James Cameron's FF7 or FF4? Or Peter Jackson's FF5 or FF9? Maybe Quentin Tarantino's FF2? Also Steven Spielberg's FF1? What about JJ Abrams FF3? Or Ang Lee's FF12?
The possibilities are endless.

FF10 would be my second choice. With out a doubt I would choose Christopher Nolan. Everything he touches imo is pure gold, and I don't see why he couldn't conquer something as daunting as final fantasy. On the other hand JJ Abrams wouldn't be a bad choice for final fantasy 12/13

Do they have to be currently alive or can it be anyone? Top 3 choices:
FF1 - Akira Kurosawa FF9 - Guillermo del Toro FF2 - George Lucas
Dam this is actually pretty hard trying to find the style of a game as it would translate best to a movie and which director would be do it justice. But think the style of the above 3 fit Farly close to the game.

hahaha I thought the Cohen brothers like Kaleb said! I'd like a tv series, might as well throw David and Dan from Game of Thrones on it. I know people are displeased with certain episodes, but as whole it's the best. I think if they were forced to stick to the script they would produce something awesome.

Or maybe a scifi/fantasy hybrid like FF5. That whole Exdeath thing at the end he would do really well. FF3 might be great for him too since Cloud of Darkness has the creepy factor his horror films have.

You mentioned Peter Jackson already for FFIX I think. I think that's a really good choice for him given the environment. I also think FFVI would be great for him since there is such a large party. Obviously he would have to add some character development where there really is none (Gau), but in LOTR I think he did a very good job of blending canon with created. LOTR and The Hobbit also had a very large cast, but he (moreso in LOTR) did a great job of making the audience like all of them. There's also that post-apocalyptic mise en scene that Mordor and 2nd half FFVI have that I think he would capture really well. The one that I would like to see the most is FFX, but I couldn't say who would do the best on that. It'd have to be multiple movies for sure, maybe done by David Yates.
