What is your favorite bad ending from a video game? I just got to Xillia 2's bad ending and it was fabulously screwed up in that secret desire kind of way. I'd rather not spoil it.
I was going to ask about FF bad endings, but can't recall any (besides Game Over) at the moment.

Shin Megami Tensei IV. the "Nothing" ending is one of the 4 endings you can get and is considered the bad one BUT its one of my favorites in the game.
Basically you decide that in order to end all suffering so nothing will happen anymore you end the entire universe and existence as we know it so everything returns to nothingness including yourself and the game ends and you basically end up killing everyone including god.
lol.

You mean for a game that has multiple possible endings, one of which is considered bad? Or just the game has a reputation for ending poorly? I doubt anybody will know this one at all, but one of the possible endings for Fire Emblem 6: Sword of Seals. It never released in North America. But one ending (which I got on accident) occurs basically if you don't collect all legendary weapons as you progress through the game. Near the end, for some reason everybody decides to not pursue the bad guy and the game basically ends. I never played it again, but supposedly if you did collect all of the weapons, you instead fight the main villain and win and it ends that way. I was extremely disappointed obviously...

No I mean the Bad Ending. The ending you are not supposed to take because it cuts the story short or is nonheroic. The first Bad Ending was in Dragon Warrior. The bad guy asks you to join him. I did. The end.

This has to be a spoiler topic doesn't it?
So the Bad Ending of Xillia 2.
Your brother is kind of the Antagonist in the story. The power he uses makes him sick. Near the end of the game, the blood of a family member is needed. The party asks you to kill your brother and even he is willing to die
To get the Bad Ending, you can save your brother. The rest of the party tries to talk you out of it but some of the pushier ones attack.
You end up in an 8 on 1 battle versus you party. Kill all your friends to save your brother. The World ends, but you have a few moments with your brother before he dies.

Final Fantasy X-2 does have a "bad" ending. And it doesn't have anything to do with Tidus returning or not. Tidus not returning is just the normal ending.
The bad ending is rarely seen because it requires you to suck at the game so hard and most people don't have the patience to wait it out.
To get the bad ending, you have to lose the fight against Shuyin when he has control of Vegnagun and is about to fire on Spira. If you are unable to defeat him before he speaks seven or eight times (which is about a half-hour of total time waiting) he will fire Vegnagun and destroy Spira. That leads to an instant game over, and even worse, you have to fight all the final bosses again and watch a really campy 10 minute cutscene at the beginning...

You sound so knowledgeable about this bad ending that it kind of makes me wonder if you got it your first time through... ha only joking, I think I vaguely remember this description as well.

No, not the first play through. I got the Good Ending (Tidus returns) the first time. But I have seen the bad ending. Once was all I ever had the patience to do. It's incredibly boring to have your characters do nothing but heal themselves for half an hour waiting for Shuyin to finally do his thing. It's not even that great of a cutscene. Vegnagun fires, you see a shot of the Calm Lands, and then people start to panic as everything whites out. I would recommend just looking it up on YouTube instead.

If I remember X-2 had 2 good endings and the true good ending you needed to get either 100% or something like 90% or higher to achieve it.

But I think it's only like one extra scene. Tidus returns as long as you whistle in the far plane. From firsthand experience I know that the perfect ending wasn't worth it

The Apocalypse ending in Chrono Trigger has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. Especially when you see the image of the planet fading to black and white and you hear the shriek of Lavos. "But...the future refused to change." Haunting!

Yeah! What kind of incentive is Getting Tidus back?
