Nobuo Uematsu always discusses how he is inspired by 70s and certain early 80s prog rock music and I found some stuff that sounds a little similar to his work.
The Police Walking on the Moon (just the intro part before the vocals start)
Sounds slightly like
FF7 Midgar Slums
And this Pete Townsend song Let My Love Open the Door (intro only before the vocals)
Kinda gives me an FF7 Prelude vibe
Thoughts? Can you notice a slight similarity or am I crazy?
Bonus Track
Did you know many JRPGs dungeon music from the 90s and even 2000s was inspired by this 1979 track from the Japanese music group Yellow Magic Orchestra?
Castalia has many of the common qualities found in dungeon themes for Japanese RPGs and many game musicians state that they were inspired by this track.
The more you know lol.

Wow the 2nd one sounds like you could even make a case of infringement there. That's pretty weird. I also see where you're coming from on the 1st one, but to me they both just sound like typical older stuff. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but when I hear the slums theme, I think 90s. Kind of a chicken and the egg case with that, and that Police song is much older so I dunno. Interesting catch though, I dunno how you can spot this stuff.

I listen to a lot of music so I usually catch small parts songs that sound similar to other songs.
