I spent a unhealthy amount of time on XII.
At release, I hated the game completely but found it enjoyable after playing WoW for a few years. Setting up the party and tactic like i would in a mmo helped me become a hardcore fan. I actually reached top rank and all the lil chibi trophie characters...amoung other things.

The only thing I didn't get in this game was a story that made sense. Any body remember that part where ashe can see her dead boyfriend and then vaan sees him too? Then no lead up ( or maybe I zoned out for the next 100 hours). Anyway, hunts were awesome and more important then my school assignments.

I sunk in crazy amount of hours to get the OoA. Hopefully they put out a FFXII HD re-release so I can do it all over again  |

I did, but still don't remember anything about the game except the hunts. For spending 100 hours you'd think it would have left a bigger impact.

Lol. How big is your save file? I'm not certain, so I'll check next time I dig out my PS2 but I think I had just shy of 200 hours on there. Unlike other crazy long grinds though I actually had quite a bit of fun with FFXII. There was enough stuff to do to keep it somewhat fresh. |

It was one of the most unrewarding experiences I've had in an FF game. It was a little anti-climactic... But that's why they need a HD re-release so at least you can get the satisfaction of having a trophy/achievement pop. I mean that ain't much either, but it's something. |

That's true, this was a trophy before trophies were a thing. I've always felt the games after FFX don't do a good enough job of rewarding you from completing sidequests or beating optional bosses. At least in the older games you could get something tangible, even if you didn't need it.
