That's good because its definitely worth playing. Also I've heard the iOS versions are bad so I'd stick with the PlayStation or psvita. WOTL is actually okay on iOS. I was watching a coworker play when it first released and I saw no issues with it. I'd even argue it's one of the better FF on mobile devices because you don't need fancy controls or an analog joystick.

Yeah I thought it'd be a good one but I've only heard negative things.

The iOS version of Tactics is the ONLY good Final Fantasy game on mobile. Believe me all the other FF1-6 suck on ios because the controls are so annoying and they ruined the 2d sprite graphics for FF4-6.
Playing Tactics on an Ipad is fast smooth and looks great. You can also link download an app so you can use your PS3 controller on the iPad and play tactics that way if you don't like touch controls (but tactics isn't an action game so touch controls aren't annoying in this one)

Good to know! The only one I have seen played on ios is VI. The controls looked super wonky.

IV is using the 3d graphics ala DS, so it's not the redone sprites likes V and VI, but if you want the best experience in IV, you have to either have the Chronicles version for your PSX, or the even better PSP/Vita version.

For my playthrough of the entire series I played FFI through FFVI all on iOS. I was playing on an iPhone 4S. I loved the games on mobile. It's amazing being able to play an RPG at any time since I always have it in my pocket. Once I moved on to FFVII and later games I found myself missing having a RPG on my phone so much. The digital analog stick takes a couple hours to adjust too, but after that it's fine. And it's consistent across games, so it's not something that you need to figure out 6 different times. If you constantly have access to a TV with a console then maybe it doesn't appeal to you as much. I have a wife, 2 kids, and a job. Guess how often I actually get the TV to myself? Mobile gaming is huge for gamer parents.

Mobile gaming is huge for gamer parents. The alternative, however, is still mobile gaming with a handheld gaming device. I'm in the same boat as you, except sans the wife at this point, and I do find it difficult to get some gaming in. My Example, as I've said before, is that I have a PSVita with all the Final Fantasy games on it. We don't all have that luxury, I understand. Truth be told, there is nothing inherently wrong with the mobile versions (except the sprite differential, and to some people that's a dealbreaker). I played Chrono Trigger on my iPhone and beat it for the first time on my iPhone. This comes after owning the Chronicles Version. The controls are simple and easy to maneuver. My only gripe comes from the lack of cloud saving (not just in iOS, but on every platform except steam) so when I want to switch from iPhone to Android, I can't have shared game saves (yes, there's something wrong with someone who buys the game twice for two different devices, but you're talking to a brick wall here, from the guy who's purchased 6+ copies of The Princess Bride and 4 copies of Final Fantasy VII, not to mention the original DVD, Extended DVD, Blu-ray, Etended blu-rays, of the Lord of the Rings, FULLY KNOWING they were going to screw my pocket book).

Tactics War of the Lions is a lot better than the PS1 original version. Tactics Advance was "meh" Tactics A2 was much better. Wow, I have the complete opposite opinion. I like ps1 better than lions and A1 over A2. Looks like I need to do some replaying to see what I missed or judged unfairly the first time.

I mean, why wouldn't you like War of the Lions? it's an enhanced, upgraded, and added content version of the PS1 edition. They didn't overhaul the graphics, just added cutscenes and audio and jobs and other things.

War of the lions is also slightly more difficult.

Mobile gaming is huge for gamer parents. I feel so bad for you as a fellow FF fan *pats you on the back and offers an elixir* Also handheld gaming is good for parents. Not exactly mobile gaming. You should have played FF1-10/10-2 on the Vita. That is a handheld and you don't need a tv. All best versions of the games on 1 device with no butchering of music or 2d sprites. Have you seen what they did to the characters and environments in FF5 and FF6 iOS?

Have you seen what they did to the characters and environments in FF5 and FF6 iOS? To back Void's point, the sprites aren't terrible, they just look out of place if you have fond memories of SNES version. While I have said before VITA is the way to go as a parent, we all don't have $170 to plop on a Vita, $60 on a memory card, then $130 on the games. ($10 for Origins (1-2), $20 for III, $20 for IV, $10 for 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and $30 for Final Fantasy X/X-2). Granted, Final Fantasy I & II are $9 each, III - VI are each $16 (this includes an extra $16 for After years, included in the $20 IV for Vita), bringing the total to $96, (unless you have iPhone and buy the "bundle" for $70) but that's not including the PSX and newer games. But, to each their own! Also, KFC, (that's right, that's what I'm going to start calling you Kaleb), any way to move this thread to general discussion? It seems to have gone off-topic really fast!

That would be a task for Joe. Originally I could do it as well, but I wanted to participate in the leveling up function based upon posts.
