That was an extremely detailed reply oxbellows thanks. I did play the war of the lions version for the record. And I really did want to love it believe me. I frequently get the desire to replay it but thinking about how slowly my characters advance and all the cons I listed is just a bit deterring. It just took too long to get good with any particular class. And like I said earlier I just prefer how fire emblem tackles the tactical element. I might read through a plot summary again though to see if it invigorates a desire to play it. It's the same with chrono trigger for me. Solid game but I can't figure out why it's so beloved. I appreciate the replies though. I think I'm actually some form of anomoly. I have played Chrono Cross a dozen or so times and it has stuck as my favorite game ever, but each time I started Chrono Trigger, I stopped before I got very far at all. Probably, it's just because I haven't gotten far, but I'm with you in not understanding why it's so beloved. Chrono Trigger is actually my favourite game of all time! I'm trying really hard to determine how much of that is due to all the nostalgia and good memories I have of playing it when it was first released. I wonder if playing it for the first time now as an adult would have the same effect.

I played it when it first came out in NA, and I was ten years old at the time. Because it followed me so much throughout my teenage years, too, I think that nostalgia plays a big part of my choice. However, I think it's just about time to finally for me to play Chrono Trigger. I've had Final Fantasy Chronicles and, thus, Chrono Trigger for about 10 years now, but I've just never powered through to the point where I was totally hooked.

You gotta at least make it to the Kingdom of Zeal. My favorite location in any game ever.

Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy IX and Legend of Dragoon are considered the nicest looking PS1 games.

I lost my copy of Legend of Dragoon in a previous move. I never beat it, though I got close to the end of the game. I really want to play it again...

It's my 4th favorite of the series but I do love some FFT. The story itself might be one of the best. I loved it even more on the PSP in the War of Lions edition. Balthier may have been more godly than Orlandu. I didn't really exploit the game too much other than using auto-battle, except when I was kid, I did get a game shark and customized my entire parties sprites. I love the job system, except for some of them it's ridiculous how long it takes to master it. The game play is great, I like the chess board like feel to it. The music might be some of the best in all of FF. My two favorite songs in the game, I should learn the names, are when you first save princess Oveila at Zedrich Falls and "Trisection." My favorite part of the game is everything at Riovanes Castle. First, for an adversary, I really admired Weigraf. He was almost like Delita but didn't have the plan or direction like Delita did, but he was still a powerful man who came from nothing and just wanted equality amongst human beings. When Barritan (Rafa/Malak "father") basically challenges Folmarv, I was like this is where it gets real. I'm paraphrasing, "you'd raise arms against your host in his own keep? This is a battle you cannot hope to win." "No....This is a battle we can't hope to lose... Weigraf follow the mage, I'll handle things here." And as if making out with his life wasn't enough Barritan then sticks around long enough for Elmdor and his chicks to get there and one of them effortlessly tosses him off of the roof the castle! That part was gangsta!LOL! I think Dycdarg is one of the most underrated villains in the history, he truly his a sick bastard. Another part that I really liked, especially being the oldest brother my self, when Alma and Teietra were abducted and Zalbag just comes out and is like "where the f are you going with my sister, die." I felt really bad for Zalbag at the end. There are a lot of underrated things about this game when you compare them. Is there anyone in FF series more powerful than Orlandu aka TG Cid? His step son Olan was another character I really liked, hence the gameshark as a kid, first galaxy stop is amazing, and I really like his attitude to peace first and war second. He was another I felt bad for at the end, although Delita showed mercy, Olan would throw his life away before bowing down and hiding the truth. One of my favorite games as I said and I can't for the guys to cover it!
