Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a did you know or a tactic but I just listened to FFIX part 1 and I thought I would share with you this little tidbit. Did you know, that in Final Fantasy IX if you push the select key and hover over your abilities in the abilities menu it explains what they do? Sorry that gave you a headache, its not super obvious, but I had to get that off my chest Also if you equip a piece of a equipment with an ability, ( lets say antidote), if you equip another piece of equipment with the same ability you will get double the AP for that skill so you will learn it twice as fast ! Love the show.

It took me a while to figure that one out. In the guide I was following, it was say things like "The enemy uses a lot of fire magic, so use armor that protects against fire." So I would go into my equip menu, and stare at the equipment names saying "Which of these sounds kind of fiery?" Then I finally went to ask the swamp moggle guy and he was just like "Press select and I'll tell you what's up with the armor." And then I never had a game over again because from that point on I could make most of my characters immune to any of the elemental magic enemies might use, and using the abilities so no status effect could harm me.

I just guessed what the abilities did. I only used the mog for a couple things, including the card game.

Anyone ever wonder why your abilities are equipped using a crystal? I don't really know either, but it would make a good "did you know!"

This is just a guess, but I think it's because the designers were trying to make an homage to crystals. The logo of FFIX is a crystal, and Garnet wears a crystal as proof of her "royal heritage", even if she is not the real princess... and it does help her summon Alexander. Heck, Garnet is the name of a crystal. So a designer probably decided that having Garnet and Eiko learn their summons through crystals would be a great idea.
