I'm really curious to see if knowing that the story is mostly to be found in datalogs and whatnot will have an effect on the play thorough. On the first play through, most people probably don't pay much attention. However, now that we all know better, will more attention be given to the datalogs, this essential story element?

I've never read a datalog for that game. Yesterday I was playing FF13 for like 6 hours, trying to pay attention, and I gotta say that the only thing they don't explain is what a fal'cie is... Everything else is in there, just kind of brushed over.

Did you reach Palumpolum in those 6 hours? You kind of get a good explanation and a visual of one with Lightning and Hope when they see Carbunkle, although that's the most basic of fal'cies, which supported food and such. I remember my first time playing it and the only thing that confused me were the difference on a L'Cie and a Pulse L'Cie since we really didn't know what Pulse was yet.
