I think that's part of why I liked XIII - Because the Crystarium only levels up at certain points, it sort of forces you to NOT over-level, so you can't just cheese through the majority of the game, and have to actually rely on proper strategy. Yeah instead of grinding to become overlevelled to beat a boss you had to rely on strategy and I really liked that about XIII.

Yeah instead of grinding to become overlevelled to beat a boss you had to rely on strategy and I really liked that about XIII. I liked it to some extent, but I'm the type of player that will grind out levels so I'm a complete bad ass by the time I get to the next boss. I found that in FF13 when the next part of the crystarium unlocked I already had enough points to get halfway through the next crystarium section.
