That SQUARE claimed a glitch that froze FF4 was actually part of the game lol I actually knew about this before but didn't even think about it till i saw i started playing it recently, wonder if it is in the newest versions?

This is why I miss old Nintendo games. A game company could never get away with an explanation like this today. I wish they would, I appreciate the effort they put into explaining a bug like that.

I know i was slack jawed and amazed that he could have done that even then lol. Of course I figure the amount of people to run across this glitch would be small as I only imagine you could find this by trying to make it happen.

That is actually brilliant. I wonder how many people found out about this and were like "hmm, I wonder if this actually happens... I have some time to kill!"

I miss the days of gaming when the Internet wasn't so accessible and rumors were widespread. I used to love hearing stories about "a friend of a friend" who revived Aerith, or caught Mew, and the crazy things that were required in order to do so. Nowadays it's pretty easy to debunk anything, but in the mid-late 90s there was a genuine curiosity that I'm glad to have been a part of.

I kinda hated that though because I remember at school and with friends there were always these game rumors that we would try out and waste hours trying to unlock characters or do stuff that was never in a game. Magazines like EGM and others didn't help and actually wrote articles that were fake and we'd try to do stuff and get angry when it didn't work. Gaming stuff was so mysterious until around the middle or end of the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube generation once guides and internet FAQs became more widespread.

It was always stuff like "walk back and forth in this exact location 126 times, then use a TM05 on Nidoking and then reset your game." I think deep down I knew it was bogus but there was always a small part of me that was like "but what if?"

I hate to be that guy but it was really easy to catch mew in Red/Blue. All you need is (I know nobody actually cares but just to debunk this debunk that I didn't think needed to be debunked) 1. Catch Abra. 2. Position yourself just above trainer's sight in grass to left of Nugget Bridge 3. Move one step down into his view and hit start simultaneously. 4. Have Abra use teleport as trainer spots you 5. Now you're back at Cerulean gym. 6. Go into Cerulean gym and battle the 2nd trainer (I think it's the second). 7. Leave and start walking up Nugget Bridge 8. Random encounter and it's Mew! No need to thank me

Kind of makes me wonder how all my friends figured it out at the time though since we were 7 or 8 and internet was not nearly what it is today.

When I was a young lad, my friend and I got that cable to trade Pokemon from red to blue. Without even a smirk, we both traded each other the version exclusives to find that I now had a Golem named Asshole and he now had a Meowth named Asshole.

Hahaha I don't think golem has ever been an exclusive but regardless that's hilarious. Imagine in gold and silver one of them using endure: "asshole endured the hit!"
