Very Interested to hear everyones opinions (Good and Bad) on type-0. I'm currently 40 hours in and i gotta admit the game is really growing on me. Probably my favorite ff spinoff game to date with ff 10-2 and Crisis core close behind. I really liked ff12 but for me this might be the best ff game since ff10 (not including 11/14 since i haven't played them) I find the battle system to be quite refreshing and easy to pick up although their are some definite flaws in it. At first i found the story and character development to be lacking since their are so many damn characters to keep track of, but around Chapter 4/5 it takes it to a whole different level and the story becomes enthralling. And the soundtrack is absolutely AMAZING and really gets you emotionally involved in every big battle and cut scene. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGinS6Xsdbk&index=2&list=FL4t2KcW1xUzq7woDHzxl3wg (favorite song so far)

I enjoyed what I have played of it so far. I am still in the beginning so I am still trying to figure it all out. Sadly I have become addicted to GTA5 online once again so I have shelved Type-0 for now. D: My only complaint is that the overworld seems pretty dead and empty.
But thats not too much of a big deal.

I love gta5 as well. It's quite addicting. I haven't played it recently so I have yet to experience what the heists have to offer. And yea I agree with your point about the overworld being bland, although their is more to it as you progress. Also being able to walk around in the overworld as you can in the game is a definite throwback to the psone ff games and ones before it which I like

I know I'm speaking too soon but...I have only played FF Type-0 for maybe a half hour? And honestly I don't care for it. The battle system is just not my thing. So it looks like I spent $60 on this game just to play the FFXV demo.

So it looks like I spent $60 on this game just to play the FFXV demo. I do feel the game gets progressively better as the story goes on, but I can totally understand not liking the battle system. Personally I enjoy it alot despite its flaws (pisses me off you can only have a limited amount of actions like only being able to equip a few magic spells because u still need a slot for your characters unique abilities. Also not being able to switch your actions mid battle is ridiculous) and I can't blame you for giving up on it if your main problem was the battle system.

I'm also an addict of GTA5 online! I have Type-0 but my big problem is with the gameplay/battle system it's extremely fast with no pace to it. I'd like to think I'm above average at the XIII trilogy since I've almost platinumed all 3 games, so I'm very accustomed to a fast style of play but at least it has a pace. I can switch paradigms as fast as the best of them but with this game I'm just not grasping it yet. I was wiped out by I think the Odin you fight in the beginning 3 times and kind of drifted back to GTA5 after that. Obviously some of us like certain FF over others but for me all of them, the story carried me through whatever I didn't like which was great. I think I'll give it another attempt because I'm sure the story itself is excellent.

Loved Type-0 Until the last chapter. I won't spoil anything, but the game starts going somewhere cool, and then in the last chapter or so, it takes a COMPLETE left turn for no god-damned reason. It's still interesting, and the ending itself is decent, but the last act of the game has ZERO setup for it :/ There's even a few cool emotional moments that would have hit way harder if they set it up more than 15 minutes before they happened... But they didn't. Gameplay is awesome, story and themes are amazing, but the ending kind of just takes a nose-dive. Let me know when you guys finish it and if you agree or disagree

I love Type-0 it is also my favorite spinoff FF game! After playing it I was more pissed that I had to wait this long to (officially) play it.
Great story line, fun battle system, and good graphics with beautiful CG cut-scenes. that said, You can tell that it was built for PSP and Square Enix didn't try very hard to clean it up, yeah the graphics are upgraded... but there are WAY to many load screens between different areas and a few camera issues mainly on the world map.
I also liked the opening sequence with the teatree. it was a super sad way to start the game but it started the game on a serious note and really set the stage to the situation your team is in. I also liked that they added the blood to this game without over doing it. Very rare for Square Enix to make an M-Rated game but it added that bit of realism that set the mood.
Lastly, although not completely confused, I do agree with Dgunther. When all hell breaks loose in the last chapter, your left with this WTF feeling... and it is never fully explained. I haven't seen the alternate ending to this game yet.. but the normal ending is still like, WTF T_T

Of all the things that happen when converting a psp to console you would think loading times would be on of the first things to improve...but oh well. And yea, i thought the intro to the game was cool and pretty emotional as well. Really gave you a good feel about how heavy the situation is. Yet I still don't understand why it is rated M. I mean yea there's blood but like you said it isn't over the top. And other than the minor blood their really isn't much that should award this a M rating in my opinion. Its sort of like movies nowadays. Has a few F bombs and they make it rated R when some pg13 movies might have more adult material. Just my two cents.

I've finally started playing through it and unfortunately I'm finding a lot more cons than pros. I do really like the battle system though, even if I can't stand the moments in between battles .

Also finally started playing this. I like the battle system, but some things really annoy me. While the voice actors aren't terrible, the way it is written just makes everything seem so wooden it just kills me. I switched it to Japanese but that didn't change anything. I'm probably 4 hours in and the story has promise but it feels like it's really rushed without much explanation about anything. And I could be wrong but I got to a part where I had to kill something airborne on a mission but I had no ranged attackers in my party so I had to literally kill one of them off to get King in. That seems ridiculous

That seems ridiculous the story will only get better as u go on by alot. I agree with you about the voice acting. But for some of the characters it seems to be better since they put more focus on them. Personally i always have a ranged attacker in since most missions later in the game their will be enemies out of your reach. My go to party is Ace (his jackpot shot is sooo cheap once leveled), King, and Jack for my close combat auron style power. My backup party is usually Cater for range and no reloads, Seven, and Machina

Yeah I'm still working out the kinks on who I like best. I also really like Jack even though he's extremely slow if you don't constantly use the dodge button. I've read that Rem is the best magic user and Trey is good too but I also like Seven and Eight. Why is there no student named Ten? I do have to admit though that I like type 0 more than the 15 demo. I feel like a pariah saying this but the demo so far has been very underwhelming
