As many of you probably already know, Joe and I feel that FFV is highly underrated. Alot of this may be a sort of reverse nostalgia, due to it not being released in the States until Anthology in 1999; whereas IV was available in the States the same year it was released in Japan. I feel that the game is quite good, albeit a little slow in the beginning. What are some of your thoughts on why V doesn't get as much love?

I mostly didn't like the story or the characters but I did like the job system and how you could get the ultimate weapons for all the classes.

It is sorta underrated, but its completely squares fault. I loved the game alot, though slow at first like you said. I liked all the characters too. Since i had watched the crystal anime first, it was neat to point out the mentioned heroes and cid. Anyways..
Once the story gets going, its very enjoyable. I liked unlocking all the weapons and finding the summons.

The job class was definitely the strength of this one's battle system. And I enjoyed Gilgamesh's entry into the series.

Yeah but its like spamming quick attack in FFX. It gets boring...but it gets the job done.

Yeah it's not always fun when you got one move to do everything.

I personally want Square Enix to release a FF5 complete like they did with 4 on the psp.

V is such a good game. Fun fact its one of the only FF Games to have a yearly charity competition where people binge play FFV with unique classes each time and depending on their completion and classes used money is donated to charity. Lots of people partake in this every year.
Its a very replayable FF.
<<<<<<< BTW what was everyone's reactions to opening the chest with Shinryu the first time? And did you all have fun using the submarine and listening the music?

I thought it was great when I played it the first time. Probably a year or two after it came out. I never think of replaying it, though. I should rectify that.

^In my opinion its one of the few FFs along with 7 and 9 that are just fun to replay. Some other FFs have boring tedious parts but this one is just... well... fun. I think Joe said it best in the podcast about how he had had fun with the gameplay and it never really felt like you were grinding or getting wrongly punished in the game.

Agreed, I love all the job class games and V having an android/ios version makes it the as the much more accessible. And the tropics don't hurt either

Having played it for like a decade (but only beating it for the first time about a month ago) I can officially say that this game is a solid entry in the series. I think it is much less known because of its lack of American release. Very underrated.
