*Walk the dog at least three times a day. When it is cooler, I take my black lab for two mile+ long walks around the neighborhood. When I am not working and the family lets me, I give him 4. Now it's very hot and the street burns my dogs feet. I am able to walk him in the morning, but our afternoon walk is short or non-existent. Sometimes I walk him between 7-8, but I need to add a 10-11 walk, and maybe a midnight walk, too, if I am still awake.
*Figure out what to eat for breakfast. When I am not working, I eat breakfast pretty late. I know I need to eat before work in order to have a good day, but I need to figure out what I actually need to eat. And it needs to not involve Coke :-)
*Take my daughter to her new class. A new gymboree class starts on Tuesday. It starts at 6pm at a place that could be an hour away if traffic is bad. I am hoping for 35 minutes of driving. The problem to overcome here, is that my daughter weights for me to come home before she will go to sleep. Then she will sleep for 3 hours straight. I don't mind this little break after getting home from work, but it will make getting to the Tuesday class difficult. We'll see what happens on Tuesday.
ONGOING: Do not spend more time working at home than I do working in the classroom. So far so good. I did most of my off the clock work at school last week. And I probably only spent about 20 minutes before and after class doing stuff. I have some grading and planning to do this weekend, but I don't see that taking more than 2 or 3 hours. So for this week, I estimate that I will only have worked 4 hours extra.

Dog Walking - Did this most of the time. Maybe one or two days where I did not walk him because I was grading/planning. I say success!
Breakfast - Half a wheat bagel with cream cheese, a carrot, and water seem to be working just fine. I also drink (homemade unsweetened) ice tea on the way to work. I don't want anything for breakfast, but I need something to get me through the few hours of class.
Daughter's Class - We made it. She has started to get up earlier on her own. I still left the house early to avoid the 5pm traffic. We ate dinner before class instead of after and it all worked out fine.
Ongoing - Still am not working very much at home. That may change in September. Those classes are being overhauled, so everything will be new. Lots of rebuilding to do.
****** Goals for the last week of July.... hmm
Lots of house crap going on.
*Be nice and calm during the chaos. It's frustrating, but it is not anyone's fault. I plan to be civil during the next week :-)
*Check Dryer Vent
*Get Kitchen Lights replaced or working
*Solve Ant Problem
*Arrange Painting of new outside wood and possibly door
*Find missing Social Security cards
Dang, how about an actual PHAT goal for myself, not just a to do list... *Increase the amount of CS Lewis I read. I recently got a collection of non-fiction books from Lewis. I can only read about 10 pages a day. It's thick, thoughful stuff. I would like to get through the 700+ page book a little faster, though.

Goals Report:
Goal 1: Be nice. Fail! The crap kept piling on all weekend and all week. We had a lovely time on a trip to San Diego, but more stuff happened while we were gone. This was only a borderline fail. I was not a monster, just grumpy-pants.
Goal 2: Check Vent. It's old, but its clear. The new dryer is great, but too efficient for our old vent. The new dryer needs an 8-foot long (max) venting tube. Our venting tube runs the length of the garage and actually comes out of the house below the level of the house. Really bad design. This causes the dryer to overheat, and it actually burned some of our clothes and melted the dryer sheets. After some Googling, I found that this is a common problem with new dryers in old houses. As long as I run the dryer on normal with the door open and no dryer sheets, then things are fine.
Goal 3: Kitchen Lights. So, my wife's dad came over and did some work on our house while we were in San Diego. His "help" was a source of some frustration when we returned, but he did help me reach this goal. He played with the lights and got them working. I would still light to replace the 4' fluorescents, but it is no longer immediate.
Goal 4: Ants. FAIL! Still a problem. I just nuke 'em when I see 'em. Bait traps did not work. They seem to find all the little crumbs my daughter leaves behind.
Goal 5: Paint. Guys are all set to come in mid-August.
Goal 6: Social Security. Went to the office today. It was packed, but luckily replacing cards is so common, they have a line just or that. I only had to wait for 30 minutes and the interview was over in like 5. Cards in the mail.
Goal 7: C.S. Lewis: FAIL! His non-fiction is very interesting, but lately I have only had time to read right before I go to sleep. That is not the time to read Lewis. I did finish off Mere Christianity in the social security office. Screwtape Letters is next. I listened to John Cleese's version on audiobook so I may give it a read. If not, I think I am done with Lewis until January. Last night I was falling asleep two pages into Lewis. I switched to a fantasy adventure book and ended up waking up and reading for an hour. I think I need to stick fun novels for night time reading, and safe non-fiction for wakeful midday reading.
****** Goals for the first week of August
Goal 1: Finish Screwtape Letters by reading during the middle of the day.
Goal 2: Read a real paper book for 30 minutes before going to bed.
Goal 3: Take the dog to the vet to see why he is biting his back. (the dog not the vet)
Goal 4: Go to the movies since I have some time off and a gift card.
Goal 5: Keep on top of the ants. Spray a barrier outside.
Goal 6: Take my wife to my favorite Thai place's new location.
Goal 7: Badger old friend until he meets up with during my week off.
Goal 8: Actually try to play more Xillia 2 during my week off. At least start and finish Chapter 8.
I tried to focus on relationships and media for these goals. This might be a good format for me to follow. Relationships (Wife, Daughter, Dog, Friends) and Media (Books, Games). Maybe later I will add something for mom, but I already meet a great goal of seeing her once a week and one Sunday a month. Maybe a professional goal, but Dad goals have basically replaced Professional goals.
