There is a Sale on PSN now which includes a lot of Final Fantasy games for really cheap, I for one recommend you get Final Fantasy Tactics for PS1 classics which IMO is the better version between it and the PSP remake, plus you can play the PS1 classic on your TV through PS3 and continue the save on PSP or PS Vita. FF Tactics on PS1 arguably has the worst translation of all the FF games lol. The PSP version is miles better because they fixed and changed all the dialogue so its very similar to the Japanese version of the game. The PS1 version has slowdown built into the game so even the digital version has slowdown and not to mention the translation is so bad most of the people that played the game couldn't even understand what was going on. ios/android version > psp version >>>> PS1 version |

Hmm, I thought it was the PSP version that had attack slowdown, the PS1 version runs fine, and the translation issues are not majorly off putting [Even FF7 had translation problems and it was just fine], but I like it more because I like the option of playing on the PS3/TV and if I wanted transferring the save to my PSP and continue there.
Also if they were going to stream the game it would be easier through a PS3.

Yeah only the PSP version has a patch you can download on cfw to alter the game so there is no slowdown while the ps1 version is made in such a way that its not able to be fixed. Ios version fixes all these problems though. FF7 had a bad translation but at least you could understand the story for the most part... FF Tactics is such a complicated and intricate game and the rich old style english dialogue ingame requires that you need the best translation to understand it in my opinion. |

I actually played FFT on P1 around when it came out and I had no problems with the speed, in fact I don't know how or why you would consider that to be slow, watch a video of the gameplay maybe, the translation might of been considered to be poor years later but at the time It was understandable and enjoyable., I mean the legacy of this game was made by the original and not the remake so it was a GREAT game.
When the PSP version was first introduced It was one of my most wanted games, but while it was a better version in many areas [looks, extras, translation, portability] the main part of the game, the battles put me off.
Now I did finish it here too since regardless of slowdowns and we didn't have the option for patching near release, I liked the option of playing it on a handheld.
But when the PSN version of the original came out on PS3 I reverted back to that version, besides the translation issues which never bothered me, I liked the option of playing it just fine without having to patch it, and the main thing was I could play it on a TV through PS3 and take it on the PSP with the same save if I wanted to go out or play in bed.
This is my personal reasoning to like the original more, and no it is not a bad version of the game at all, its just probably not the best.

But if you want to try both you can pick them both up for $10 combined, which is very cheap, and the PS1 version is just great, If you play the PSP version patched its even better and if you tolerate mobile gaming I understand that's the best version, either way all are very playable.
I would pay $60 full price for this to come out on Steam though..... |
