Distant worlds is a great place for FF fans to get together and listen to some awesome music! With this comes all the cosplayers!
While its not necessarily my thing (mostly becuase there is no such thing as a fat FF characters..) I have done my job as a cool uncle and got my 10 year old niece into the series and she looks a ton cuter in a cosplay outfit than i do..
Distant worlds was in St. Louis back in May and my wife and I dressed our Niece up as a Moogle and it turned out really well:
Simple white dress with pair of wings cut out of cardboard with some hot clue to make a bit of texture detail to them and covered in felt. Then my mother-in-law crochet a white hat and we added the iconic pom pom. we gave her a crystal necklace and some random earthy bracelets and topped the outfit off with a messenger bag.
While I think her outfit was cool there where plenty of other people who put more time and effort into there outfits. This is a lightning cosplayer who took alot of time to her outfit:
Again, while this is cool.... During intermission someone showed up in an AMAZING chocobo outfit! Not only did it look really good, but somehow they added chocobo sounds! I dont know if this was just a dedicated fan or something that distant worlds did.. but very damn good!:
Again, cosplay is not really my thing... but it is pretty cool to enjoy the work and dedication that others show off!

And that Chocobo cosplay/suit is insane. Holy shit. I want to hug it. Back when I went to see Distant Worlds perform live I wanted to cosplay as Quistis but I didn't have anyone to dress up with me so I ended up not doing it 
Looking back I wish I would have!
