So I have been on this documentary binge. I have been trying to get in a few documentaries a week. What is everyone's views on documentaries? I expect that there are a wide variety of opinions and I'd like to hear all about it. I surf Netflix and HBO Go for whatever I can find and I do not discriminate. Personally, I go into a documentary knowing that there is always an agenda. I try to suspend my own personal opinions and remain open to interpretation. I am going to go ahead and get the ball with a few that I have watched recently.
No no: A Dockumentary
This is a documentary about Dock Ellis, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates during the late 1960s. He was on the team with Roberto Clemente and he was part of the first all black player opener of a baseball game in U.S. history. He also pitched a no hitter while high on LSD...
Best Kept Secret
This is a documentary about a woman in New Jersey who teacher the 18-21 year old special education program. I am a teacher and I found this to be really touching. This is one of those good for the soul documentaries.
Still Alive: Paul Williams
Paul Williams is one of the most prolific song writers in the history of music. He wrote some of the most beautiful and touching songs ever for singers like The Carpenters, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, etc.. He wrote the Rainbow Connection, made famous by one of my own personal heroes, Jim Henson.
Project Nim
This is a documentary about a chimpanzee named Nim that was used in a psychological experiment in the late 1970s. He was taught sign language and raised as a human to see if animals could learn to be... well, human.
Shut Up Little Man
This is a more for entertainment documentary about Audio Verite and is really funny if you can appreciate this kind of humor. I'll see if anyone on these forums has ever heard of this one...
