So I know a lot of people hate or hated the 13. I'm just curious who here has had their opinions changed since its initial release?
Personally I love 13. Love me some Lighting and love all the sequels. Rate it near the top of my FF list.
Just curious who's on the FF13 fan boat and who has recently jumped on. Let me know below!

Been a fan since initial release. Narrative and character-wise, I always found a great deal of enjoyment from it.
Battle system wise, I considered XIII to be one of the best. This'll probably never change anytime soon, maybe if FFXVI goes ATB and revolutionizes the system somehow haha

I said it in another post but FF is the greatest series ever made. I've evolved as the series evolved, some fans still decide to be the cocoon, I'd rather be the butterfly. I really enjoyed XIII on my first play through and have grown to love it now that I'm in my 8th. Great visuals and sound, great story, and IMO one of the if not the best game play style until they released the rest of the trilogy.

I think my record for a game might be FE: Radiant Dawn around 9 or 10 but that game's been out longer and I don't think it's gonna clock in as long especially if you do all those XIII missions. That's dedication.
Anyways I don't think the game is terrible per se. The combat is fun even though I don't prefer it. Huge step up from FFXII in every way. But generally action RPG isn't as much my cup of tea. Still enjoyed it and I love Gran Pulse, but I have no positive feelings towards any character besides Sazh. And I can't stand the story. However, I'm happy to watch butterflies like you fly around, but that seems like a poor phrase to use considering FFXIII is the only game with a world called Cocoon.
Just sayin.

Yeah I really enjoy the entire game. I got platinum on my 2nd play through and the rest of the times I was usually helping someone play it so I played along like I'm doing now. I played FFVI and tactics way more, maybe 20 each in my lifetime. I don't think XIII has as much 'action' as Type 0, it's more like fast paced turn base still. I like Sazh a lot as a character but I have little use for him in combat. I think you're under valuing the story and the rest of the characters. For instance, Lightning is more than a cold hearted tough woman and Vanille is probably the deepest, because she's not 'all sunshines and rainbows' like she quotes in the game. I thought my term fit perfectly for this topic because it is about 'cocoon,' sorry it wasn't to your liking.

I know that feeling, I can quote a lot of FFVI and FFIV which is another I played a lot.

As much as I don't like being a hater I still can't bring myself to like XIII. I think it has a great combat system but that's all the good I can really say about it. I'm having a similar experience playing through Type-0 right now.

It sounded like a lot of fun. What don't you enjoy about it? Is the story or characters bad?

It's a personal preference of course, but I'm not particularly fond of any of the characters (your main party is a bunch of 16-17 kids, not really people I relate to know that I'm 26). The story is all over the place and demands that the player just accepts what is being told without providing any clarification (unless you want to spend hours reading through datalogs). I don't mind a complex story or having to piece things together for myself, but the game is doing little to bring me into the world or to hold my interest story-wise. I don't want to know more about these characters and I've actually been tempted to just start skipping cut-scenes, something I've never done during my first play through of a game before. Also the script and voice acting are sub-par and the camera control in quite jarring, though I am getting used to it. As I said though, the combat is definitely the shining feature of this game, and that's what's keeping me playing it. I don't necessarily think it's a bad game by any stretch, it actually is quite a lot of fun, and you should still pick it up if you were thinking about it. I think if you enjoyed the look/feel/story/characters of the XIII series (or if you just love Nomura) you will probably like this more than I did.

I've been defending FFXIII for years now I love the battle system and paradigm shifting and people saying the game is easy just push x to win and its a hallway don't know what they are saying lol.
Most fluid and fast strategic combat in an FF game only topped by FF13-2 and Lightning Returns possibly.
I think its just an internet meme thing to hate on FFXIII hopefully 10-15 years from now people might finally start enjoying it like they did with X and XII.

Well as Judge Gabranth already found out, I'm not a huge fan of the story or the characters. I do like the look and feel of FFXIII but the story didn't fit for me. I think I could get past that in type-0 if the battle system is great like you said. Also not a huge fan of Nomura, but I could probably play it and just consider it priming me for VII remake and XV. Thank you sir

Thank you sir I definitely won't say it's a perfect game, as much as I like it, but story wise and without spoiling anything I can say when you finally complete the LR story I got the feeling that the other two stories didn't really matter. As the game and story expanded it shrunk the emphasis of importance of the other two, although they're also what brought us to LR. Damn paradox I'll tell ya, shout out to XII -2.
