I've been trying to work on completing every game in the series as well recently, and just started playing ff5. This game has a ton of job classes, not as much as tactics but still plenty to keep you occupied. This got me thinking... we are so use to the classic ff job classes, what new ones could they add to bring a breath of fresh air to the series?
I'd like to see a necromancer class. Abilities include dark spells, ability to summon demon allies, and get to wield scythes with a higher chance of inflicting status effects.

Which version of FFV do you have? The iOS version has a necromancer.

I was playing the anthology version and yeah I googled this a few hours ago and saw they had a necromancer in a different version. I might look into that one

I really like this question. I think SE has done a good job covering alot of different types of possible classes. What about like a shapeshifter like in Dragon Age or something? Can shift to an eagle to cover alot of ground quickly (more applicable in something like tactics). A bear or a lion to do ridiculous damage, like a tortoise or something for defense, etc.

I feel like traditional druid is unrepresented. Druid is a lot more dungeons and dragons though. That would cover the whole shape shifting thing too.

Just get the GBA version. It has the improvements that are in the iOS version but it looks nice and the sprites aren't watered down.

I also like the idea of elemental warriors. I know it's blasphemy to speak it, but legend of dragoon did a great job at representing this idea.

They did cover all of the big elements, but I thought they were a bit unbalanced because the best team pretty much undisputedly (unless of course somebody disputes me) was Dart, Rose, and Meru. The other characters like Albert had decent support abilities but these 3 covered all the bases. But the whole idea I agree was really well represented and made it actually seem worthwhile because they aren't just walking around as elemental warriors; you have to earn the points to transform into one. But I don't think elemental weaknesses ended up playing a big part in the game did it? Or did it? I haven't played it in a long time so I can't actually remember

I really hope they pick up a rune fencer class In later games. I feel the potential to have a class that can add elements to both armor and weapons would be a great assets to the series.

I know they have had similar "classes," but I would like to see more gunner characters. I know Irvine was technically a sniper, and there is a gunner dress sphere in X-2, but I think it is an underutilized class.

Isn't that like the Mystic Knight? i was thinking along the lines of adding it to ffxiv. if mystic knight is a knight class from a different game that adds elemental magic to both weapons and armor then yeah thats what it is,
