I enjoyed this one, even if it had nothing to do with the series. The voice acting was top notch, and the villain realistic. The story was so so, but again had nothing to do with the series. It was a little weird hearing Steve Buscemi's voice coming from an appealing looking face, but it's something I csn look past.... sort of...

It was a good movie, even if it failure in the box office killed square's film department. Lol
Past the name, its a good sci-fi movie as a whole. The look was gritty yet so beautiful for the time..hell it still is. Its amazing what they were able to make, only for it to bomb so completely.
The story was weak and rushed, but the ending left a mark in my mind. *spoilers* Its supposed to give this feeling that everything is gonna be alright but so much was lost. She's just left there alone, everyone she cared for died or lost and the bird flies off with the camera following it. Super depressing, but maybe that was the point. Either way Im always bummed out after watching it, while after watching ff7 AC i feel hopefully for the cast.

It's funny because I watched it in theaters when it first came out and thought "that was just a sci-fi movie with the FF name." The more I play through the series I realized that most of the games are a little sci-fi anyway! What makes something FF anyway? Crystals? Chocobos? The movie did have Cid which is one of the staples of the series. Overall I think that if something is going to be called FF it needs to have an interesting story, which this movie did to some degree.

I guess the movie was just missing more story, more characters, more refences..?
It just doesnt feel ff.. but then again, the series dont feel like ff anymore either. Not since ffx, which makes since..

They probably slapped the FF name on it for marketing purposes, which obviously did not help it in the box office.

I think that at the time they should have referenced at least something in the series. The plot had some similarities to FF7 with the whole life stream thing, that could have been an easy tie in to the series of they put in a little effort.

Yeah. Or they could have not called it Final Fantasy. Then maybe we would still have ole Sakaguchi on the team at square.
