So earlier this year metal band Veil of Maya put out a new album 'Matriarch' and Japanese-American founding member, guitar player, and songwriter Marc Okubo decided to name each of the tracks after some sort of powerful female character in popular media. Though I don't believe they ever explicitly stated this was their intention, fans have been able to identify each character.
Tracklist: Nyu (Elfen Lied) Leeloo (The Fifth Element) Ellie (The Last Of Us) Lucy (Elfen Lied) << or that movie Scarlett Johansen did? Mikasa (Attack On Titan) Aeris (Final Fantasy VII) Three-Fifty (Agent 355 - Y: The Last Man) Phoenix (Marvel X-men) Matriarch Teleute (Death - DC comics) Daenerys (Game Of Thrones) Lisbeth (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
Song 'Aeris': www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARooRR6Ox20
As far as I can tell, Aeris' track is the most like a ballad of any of the tracks on the album. I think it's interesting he chose to go with Aeris over Aerith. I wonder if he is aware of the mistranslation and is just trolling and/or doesn't give a shit. He probably knew he would get fanboys correcting his song title, as can be seen in the comments, for joking or not.

Not bad a little too much metal for me though. Good call.
