Alright. So I'll admit, this was a pretty good game considering it's predecessors. It had a much more involving story than the three prior games combined, and had some characters with a little depth. But, that being said, I preferred the fifth entry in the series to the fourth. This is for previously mentioned issues with the false sacrifices, wedding scene, etc. What do you guys think? Are we wrong about Final Fantasy IV?

I love V more than IV. but IV is loved by everyone especially in North America because it was the 2nd FF game we got. (Sadly Europeans had to wait until FF7 which was their first FF game)
We went from FF1 to 4. That alone was like Super Mario Bros to Super Mario World. We never got FF 2 or 3. So for many gamers it was their first real rpg, with story, characters, good combat etc. So its very nostalgic and iconic. Then 5 was skipped and we got 6 which is loved a lot too. then 7. Lots of people trace their love for FF back to IV.
But I agree FFV is great and its one of the most replayable FF games and one of the most underrated.

This one was II in the States, right? I played it then and thought it was awesome because it was the only other Final Fantasy game we could get. Playing it later on PS1 was also satisfying. When I played it on PSP, the story still held up. Each time I play it, I dread the moon, but I don't think it is all that bad. The connection I feel with the characters might rival my connection with the characters from VI.

I loved everything about FFIV! I played the Playstation port and I'd say it held up well. The storyline was great along with most of the characters, Kain and Rydia being my favorites. I hate to admit this because it makes me feel like a n00b, but I never finished it! I got to Zeromus at the very end and...I couldn't beat him. I tried going back and leveling up and leveling up and tried again, nothing. So it got to the point where I was bored and I still have not gone back and completed it. WHY IS HE SO DIFFICULT TO BEAT?! They do not make FF games like this anymore, usually the end boss is a push over and just a way to end the game.
I want to complete FFIV one day and get into playing the Afteryears.

It's definitely worth your time! After you beat the game there is a bonus dungeon that is pretty awesome. Also, if you need help leveling up to fight Zeromus, there are a few ways to do it fast and easy, although it is borderline cheating I thought After Years was fun too, and it might even be my favorite sequel.

FF2, as I knew it, was the first RPG I ever played and I was able to beat it my first run through. Surprising considering it wasn't always friendly in letting you know where to go.
For the time, it had a great story but what really got me was the music. There are still songs I play to this day. This theme continued as much of my daily playlist is video game music. In fact, when we are getting my newborn ready for bed my wife always asks me to play soft music to chill her out. Instead, I choose final fantasy theme playlists. I'll make a gamer of her yet.
The easiest way I used to win the game was using the item duplication exploit. Duplicate a powerful blade and then have Edge throw it each turn. Its not cheating if its in the game.
