I'm not sure how much of FFXI and FFXIV you guys have played, but I feel like you've mentioned both on the podcast a number of times. How do they compare?
I could never get into FFXI when I tried but I've see so much praise for FFXIV that I think I'd like to try it eventually. What's similar about them? What's different?

I could never get into FFXI when I tried but I've see so much praise for FFXIV that I think I'd like to try it eventually. What's similar about them? What's different? Keileb C is playing XIV a bit. I play XIV on and off, it's hard for me to find time to play with real life getting in the way. XI is hard to get into. Unless you have a solid group, or you started playing back at launch, you're hard-pressed to be able to get into it at the moment. XIV is easier to get into, but it's also approaching the time where the divide is great enough where you'd have more fun playing with someone fresh and experiencing it for the first time that way. There is very little similar to them. Races are the same, just different names. The leveling system is also similar, where each class is guided by leveling up that individual class. The XIV1.0 had more fluid transforming between classes, but it was a trainwreck of a game. XIVARR (2.0) is much more straight forward, which makes it easier to play, and easier to get into. If you want my opinion, XIV is the one to play. XI is not something to start playing, 13 years into its existence. The community is still nice, and they're willing to help lower level characters (though you'll encounter the people who are impatient) as there's incentive to do so. I think, ultimately, it comes down to your preference of MMO. Final Fantasy is just another MMO, with features used in other games. What makes ARR special is the story, the dungeons, the community, the not so exclusive top-tier, and the music. You can play this MMO as a single player game, and still experience all it has to offer. While there are places where you're forced to group, it's not the whole of the game, and You'd be hard-pressed to not find a group of people to play with. That's just my $0.02.

I wouldn't start playing FFXI at this point. Like I said, I tried it at one point and I just knew that it wasn't the game for me. I'm in the middle of playing through all the Final Fantasy games in order right now. I'm about to start FFXIII. I was planning on skipping the online games in the series completely, but now I'm thinking that I'll play FFXIV once I get to it. It's great to hear that there is actually a good story. That's why I love Final Fantasy. Most MMOs have a world that's interesting but not much of an actual story for the players to experience. I can see myself playing FFXIV at least to experience the single player story. Thanks for your input!

I have found memories of FFXI. I hardly played it, but whenever I had a break from school I would create a character from Windhurst and run around the newbie zone. I have the theme in my music cue and loved watching the in game fireworks.
I think I would love FFXIV, which is why I don't play it. I would rather enjoy multiple games, books, and movies than lose myself in another MMO (for awhile, at least).

I've been playing XIV for awhile now. Love it. It made me start playing WOW. But after comparing the 2, XIV is a better game. It's simple, fun and the online aspect to me seems like a bonus feature. Worth a shot.

Worth a shot. Nice avatar and blurb. Is that a drow? As to your blurb, I always thought Ravage from transformers was the first to social network. Shattered Glass Ravage is definitely a socialite. As to the actual post, Real Life Comics had a cartoon about the rerelease of FF14 - calling it a WoW killer. I would really like to play it but should probably wait until my daughter is married with kids and the rest of my family is passed on. Do you play on PC or Playstation?

I like the controller and being to use the vita while my girlfriend watches Buffy.

Through Remote Play, or actually on the device? It's one of the few remote play games! You can do everything on it (albeit it's harder to hit the L2/R2 buttons) so I've used it for mostly the small battles or trade/gather skills!

I know remote play is hit and miss. Some developers optimize controls for it and some developers don't. I have a Vita and being able to play a FF MMO on it would be awesome.

As mechamessiah said, the l2 and r2 buttons for the rear touch pad take some getting use to. And your hands cramp up if you are doing a dungeon or something like that for a long period of time. Apart from that its pretty awesome.
