What's your favorite Final Fantasy to grind in?
The reason I ask this question is because I just finished my playthrough of FFXII and I absolutely hated grinding in that game. After you get a good set of gambits the battles take no user input whatsoever. You just have to walk up to a group of enemies and then set down your controller until they're all dead. It made for a lot of snack breaks. By the end of the game I was just sick of the battles and I was glad I no longer had to grind.
But, in some games in the Final Fantasy series I had no trouble grinding.
I guess part of it can depend on the mood you're in and whether or not you feel like grinding, but there are definitely some battle systems and progression systems that are more fun than others.

FF5, FF7, FF13, FF13-2
Grinding never felt tedious in those games and was actually fun to do battles and level up.

Thus far in our play through, Final Fantasy V has been the most fun. The job system made the random encounters awesome. I did enjoy VI and VII too, but I found myself crying out at a random battle when I was in the middle of a puzzle or some other objective.

I like to grind in all grind capable games. But out of the ff series I'd say 4,5,7,and 13.

Yeah but in the ds remake the game is harder and it required it more. Plus it was cool when you leveled up because that's when you learned new spells. I'd say that's why I liked it in 4 because it kind of gave you incentive to grind.

I liked grinding in 9. Just something about filling up the AP bar. Getting levels was a side-benefit. Same in 6. I felt like I had real power to customize each character by making sure I had the right Esper equipped when they were about to level.

Getting new abilities through gear felt very rewarding, even though you could never equip all of the abilities at once.

It definitely adds different strategy options.

Yeah it was sarcasm. Even doing the thing where you just card everything is a pain in that game.
