I know I should like the Studio Ghibli movies, but I never found myself wanting to rewatch them. About a month ago, there was a thread discussing these movies, and I found myself wanting to watch them again.
I owned Spirited Away and Princess Monotheism, but they did not survive the many moves I had to do. I enjoyed watching them, but that was because I used to have a Tuesday movie night back in the Oughts. I worked at a Barnes and Noble next to a Best Buy. I would work a morning shift, grab something that came out on release day, then head home and make pot of filipino spaghetti. 5 or 6 friends would come over as their shifts ended and we would watch whatever interesting releases that had come out that day.
But I digress. Besides the two I named above, what was the movie that got you into "franchise"? Maybe I started with the wrong one for me. Or what are you memories behind these movies? Maybe I can syphon some of that energy to rekindle an interest in the films.
In exchange, here is a snippet of Ski Jumping Pairs.

Totoro was the first ghibli movie i ever saw. I remember first renting it at a locally owned video store. They used to have a monday special for kids. You could rent 2 movies for a dollar. I probably rented every movie in the kid section. Lol
But they had totoro and i rented it once a week for months. Good times..

Nice. I love these types of stories. Probably because everything I do his attached to an old memory. I have to stumble on new stuff by accident, it seems.
