Which optional character in the Final Fantasy series is your favorite?
There are only a couple games in the series that have truly optional characters (FFVI and FFVII) but out of those I'd love to hear who your favorite is.
If my memory serves me correctly the optional characters are:
Mog Umaro Gogo Shadow Yuffie Vincent

My favorite is probably Yuffie. Her storyline doesn't add much to the game but you can use her in battle for some gamebreaking abilities (Morph). I love finding ways to break the systems in games, so Yuffie is at the top of my list.

Does Anime count? She is definitely useful if one plans to play the endgame of X. Collecting the extra characters in VI was fun. I found Gogo to be the most useful, but Shadow to be the most interesting and explored. I also like Yuffie, but that has almost nothing to do with 7. I know she came first, but I always saw here as an extension of Rikku. I also enjoyed using her a bunch in the Kingdom Hearts Card game.

Yeah the games came out around the same time so they made cloud an extra character for tactics. You can get his buster sword and use his limits as attacks.

If you level him up and get his buster sword he's pretty beefy.

My favourite would be Vincent also. He's story gives depth to VII's main story.
I heard that you can play Beatrix in some versions of IX which would be cool and also have Larsa as a main character in versions of XII.

I really enjoyed when she was a guest character for a bit in FFIX.

Just started 9 and I remember my favorite extra character was quina quen. Creepy as shit, but seeing him eat stuff with his fork and knife was comical.

I don't know if he is or not actually. It just seemed like it was last time I played. Anyone know if he is or not?

But if you skip that marsh there is a spot on disc two where you have to find him/her. So technically it's not an optional character.
