I'm currently in the middle of my second playthrough of FFXIII.
I first played the game when it initially released and by the end of the game I absolutely hated it. The only reason I finished it was because it's a mainline numbered Final Fantasy game. If that wasn't the case I would have given up on the game.
Now it's a few years later and I'm replaying it in the course of playing all the FF games in order. I'm actually really enjoying the game this time. I think a lot of that comes down to having a different set of expectations. This time I knew what kind of game it was going in. I wasn't setting myself up for disappointment the way I did with my initial expectations for my first playthrough.
All that being said, is there a Final Fantasy game that you have drastically changed your opinion of after playing it more than once?

I tend to focus on a different character on replays or rereads. I think that may be why I like games/books with lots of characters. Multiple well-developed characters = redo value.
Hmm, but which game opinion drastically changed? I am going to go off topic a bit and talk say Kingdom Hearts RE:Chain of Memories. I attempted to play it twice and just could not get into the system. When I finally played it as a PS3 remake, I understood what was going on. I liked it better, but still not as much as FF games. Instead of an X smashing game like KH, CoM was a Triangle smashing game.
