Twitter post^^ "Going to try and complete a final fantasy per month. Happy 2015! x" and here is the photo: http://instagram.com/p/xUGaC-k6Jb Your close friend Lauren is going to try and complete a Final Fantasy main series game every month now. She started with FF1 on GBA and this is her new years resolution for 2015. (The following is just a rumor so take it with a grain of salt.) I heard from some of their patreon supporters and chat group that they have heard about UFF and are aware of the skit you guys did but talked about it and decided its best not to acknowledge you guys unless its done really vaguely. She apparently didn't like the skit and they noticed their listeners dropping sometime around August/September. They still have a ton of listeners but they do feel a bit threatened and realized that you guys are offering something different and want to do the same thing but differently in hope of gaining those listeners back along with a lot a more. (End of rumor) So yeah you guys have to step up and compete with them. Think you can beat at least 1 main FF game every month? Let the battles begin! (FF7 song)

I'm not sure how much of this I believe...
I can assure you, the drop in the listeners they have do not come from us. I would like to reach out a hand in the spirit of friendly competition...
It'll only make both of our shows better for the listeners.

I feel too lazy to even try this. Sadly im really burnt out on ff atm. The ff9 and 10 grind has taken its toll on my mentality.

Yeah man. I mean, thats what we do. We go in, and improve on each others ideas. That keeps a good sense of competition, as well as two high quality shows, rather than one.

It does not seem that FFU is going to copy UFF based upon the information you provided. Seems like Lauren is going to play an FF game a month. I had just assumed that everyone was doing that anyway :-)
I wish her luck. Maybe UFF could interview her, Void, those two people mentioned earlier in the show run, and others who are trying to do the "FF Run".

Playing a new FF every month and then talk about the game she is currently playing on the podcast and give a review or impression though might be similar to UFF though.

Iv listened to their podcast it's well put together and informative. That said they don't peak my interest when it comes to gaming. You guys have a nice spin on already well established and almost overly documented game series. That's why I listen. I couldn't compare the two aside from them being ff podcasts it's a matter of preference.

Yeah. It does come down to preference. We are different, and will attract some of the same people. But at the end of the day, people will choose by who they like hearing the most.

I think if they want to attribute their decline in listeners to something, it should be the content of their podcasts based on Final Fantasy.
Starting in August, They've had:
1. A poorly done podcast about FF8's story being too complicated (this was absolute garbage of a podcast, not just in content) 2. A Tokyo Game Show PREVIEW post on if Squeenix will fail (this could also be taken as a KHU podcast, so I count it only because they do) 3. A complete episode on if Final Fantasy 16 is almost here (we don't even have 15 yet) 4. Then a follow up to 15 being delayed. 5. Finally, a complete Q&A show with very obscure, non-casual final fantasy fan-friendly discussion points like Chocobo types, and highlighting news that's already a month old.
I'm all for everyone having separate podcasts. We don't need a bunch of Copy-Pasta podcasts of Final Fantasy running around. However, I will take notice if the content you're giving me is based SOLELY from rumor. There is no hard news here, no features worth listening to. Their problem is not because of UFF (Not to offend). Their problem is they just can't put out a good show anymore. Whether that is because of you, or because they're losing their mojo, I cannot say, obviously. What I can say though, is they need better topics. They also need better production quality.
I'll be the first to say that I'm not listening to FFU (I was turned off after one episode, the FF8 one), so those episode descriptions are from their website. That being said, however, I don't want to listen. My Podcast of choice (UFF) has already covered those, and earlier than FFU did.
So, again, it's about choice. And Joe and Kaleb have both said it best when they say the listeners will go where they feel they get the best bang for their time. It's why we're all here, right?

It's a ton of work. I just finished FFXIII and I'm moving on to sampling FFXIV. Once I have enough feel for that one I'm going to write a couple posts and call it good until Final Fantasy XV comes out. I think anyone who is willing to do a playthrough of the series is in for a treat, but also a lot of effort. Good luck to her for trying this!

I recently replayed all the main series FF games and sequels in the last 2 years to the most current one. Except for the MMOs and FF12 . Its only available on ps2 and no where else and I'm waiting for and HD remaster IZJS version.

I've been writing about it as I play through if you want to check out my progress. www.agreenmushroom.com/p/the-final-fantasy-project.htmlI basically did all the single player mainline games. I did a quick write up about my memories of FFXI because I tried it for a couple weeks when it launched. All I have left is to give FFXIV a try, just to get an impression for it. A MMO doesn't truly have an end, so I just need to sample it to feel like I've completed my objective.
