okay so I tried turning on my ps3 the other day and I got what is called the yellow light of death, does anyone know why it would do this I would just like to get it fixed so I can play my final fantasy collection again on my ps3. any help will be much appreciated.

Ive never heard of the yellow light. :/
Mine has been making alot of loud noises when its starting a game. Its making my nervous..

the PHAT PS3 models get the YLoD Yellow Light of Death after a few years if they are on a lot and start to overheat. Its best to use a Slim model.
You have to take it apart and get thermal paste or something and apply it inside in the console if you get a YLoD I remember.

I had this on my old PlayStation3. In the UK, only the first PlayStation3 model they released [60GB] had PlayStation2 compatibility, so it's well sought after. I had one for a while, but it YloD-ed on me so I replaced it with a slim model.
Sad, but crap happens lol. SONY might fix it for you at a cost, but since it's out of warranty (I'm guessing) you could maybe try an electronics repair shop. They will probs be cheaper.
