As I'm posting this, Kaleb finished FF9 a few hours ago, and currently I'm stuck on Necron. I should beat it tomorrow. This means FF9's review is on schedule to come out on Monday.
Here's the battle plan for FF10. We start on Feb 7, and play until April 11. This gives us 9 weeks to beat 10. Here's a little battle plan to ensure the episode is done on time.

Do you guys plan on getting the ultimate weapons? If so it will likely extend the amount of time you guys play. I hope you do because there are some points during the ultimate weapon quests that will make for great discussion (chocobo races and lightning dodging, although very painful are an important part of the game in my opinion, mostly because they are two of the most sadistic side quests in the entire franchise).

Are you guys going to be fighting the Dark Aeons and other optional bosses or doing the sidequests and minigames?

The dark aeons might take too much time to beat on this time schedule. I know I spent a lot of time at the monster arena getting clear spheres and maxing out my stats. I maxed everything except luck. Turns out, even with max accuracy you rarely hit the dark aeons. Its not difficult to max out your luck but it takes a long time to get the luck spheres and then the fortune spheres.

I think you can use Yojimbo on Penance but I never had the patience to keep reseting the game until he uses Zanmato.

There are ways to make sure he uses Zanmato (see my tactics you might need post) |

How long does it take to raise the compatibility to a sufficient level? Around 20-35+ battles where you use Yojimbo and you pay him and he does Wakizashi or Zanmato on enemies and each time his compatibility grows. Just make sure he doesn't die or do other attacks if he does reset your save and try again. Always give him exactly 1024 gil minimum or anything 2x, 3x that price. |
