Tough question for Joe and Caleb:
While we would all prefer to play each FF game in its original format, and pay for each game, how do you feel about downloading a game on an emulator in which you have no means to otherwise play? I understand that for the most part you can find someone selling an FF game and a console but they often charge WAY too much $$$. Even if you were to purchase the physical copy of a game, the parent company won't get a penny of that transaction unless it was a digital purchase. And what about games that aren't available for digital download? Do you think that you should always pay for a physical copy of a game even if square-enix won't see a penny of that purchase, or do you think that if you have the means to download and play a game there is no harm done? I personally feel that if I wanted to play an obscure title like FF Crystal Chronicles and there was no way to purchase the game through a paid digital download, I might be detracting from future FF sales do to my lack of experience playing this game. We have all seen visual copies of masterpieces from artists like Picasso and enjoyed these images without purchasing the actual painting, so why should downloading an original copy an FF game which is not available for digital purchase be such a bad thing? I understand that you cannot condone illegal emulation, but do you think that games should be able to be enjoyed through emulation if they cannot be purchased directly from the producing company?
