So when I was the ripe old age of 12, my town was blessed with an establishment called Odyssey Fun World. I have no idea if this is a midwest or even an Illinois only company, but it was pretty awesome.
Basically, it was the size of a giant warehouse and it was filled with video games, arcade style. They also had laser tag and a huge 8 player virtual reality space shooter simulator that took up an entire room. My friends and I spent most of our time hovering over the neo-geos playing King of Fighters occasionally drifting to House of the Dead or even the Jurassic Park rail shooter. My point being, it was good times.
I recently attended a good friend's bachelor party at a place called Gameworks, which was very similar except that alcohol was served and the games had coasters. This was a 21 and over arcade. I have never been to such a place and while the games were awesome, albeit a bit overpriced, the atmosphere was super weird. Basically you had two cultures smashed into one building: gamers and drinkers. This is not to say that people who drink aren't gamers and vice versa. I myself haven't touched the stuff in over a decade now.
I did find myself thinking that Gameworks minus the alcohol would be awesome. Then I realized that without the alcohol that place would never survive the economy. What are your thoughts on such a place? Do they have these places nationwide? Is it a place you would frequent?

I studied on the Tetris machine in the school bar/pool room my first quarter in college. It worked out pretty well. The bar is gone now. It's hard to imagine a bar at a school nowadays.
