So I recently snapped up some Playstation Store credits on the cheap from eBay and was thinking about investing in the Dragon Age series. I have never played any Dragon Age game ever, so this is an opportunity to devote basically the next year playing Dragon Age games. Actually, at the rate that I devour games, it might not take that long.
My question is this. How far back should I go? I was thinking of jumping in at Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition then Dragon Age II then Dragon Age Inquisition to get the full story. Am I missing any games? Any advice for someone going in fresh?

I have been tempted to play some of these, too, but as a way to fight off the urge to go back to WoW. I am having a hard time convincing myself to get these on console, though. Modding the games seems to be half the fun of playing them.

Go back to Origins. It's a solid game that frames what's going to happen in the next ones. It's not a particularly long game, the problem I had with it was the fact that it seemed kind of easy (except the dragons) and short. It's been a while, but if I remember correctly there is a transfer bonus on II if you played Origins. I should play that again sometime.

I picked up Origins Ultimate Edition for the PS3. I have no idea what to expect in terms of gameplay. I am excited to give this seemingly epic series a go.

I would say go play in hem all. I'm on of the few people who prefers Dragon Age 2 to Dragon Age Origins. The combat is just soooo much better, even if the locations are just recycled. However, if you want to make all the choices from the first two games and still play Dragon Age Inquisition head to www.dragonagekeep.comAnd sign in/create an origin ID, and when you sign in in Dragon Age Inquisition it'll import your world state into your new game. Quite a nifty wee tool!

I started up Dragon Age Origins and I am slightly shocked at how bad the graphics are. That is a PS3 game that looks honestly reminds me of Pre-Luclin Everquest. The graphics are like horrendous. I am no graphics snob. I love me some PSX classics. However for a PS3 game, this looks atrocious.

I give you 5 internets for referencing Pre-Luclin Everquest. Now I feel like camping the chessboard in Feydwer.

It was the golden age of MMOs. A really punishing game that made you work hard at advancement. If modern MMS players only knew what it was like...
I have really fond memories of exploring Innothule as a Troll Shadowknight. Seriously, that game was one of the best.

I am currently obsessed with DAI. I've completed it and put about 103 hours into the game. What's funny is I have not yet beaten Origins or played DA 2! Honestly I think you could start with DAI and be ok, because I basically did this. I feel like Inquisition does a great job of explaining things, granted you would have a greater understanding of some things if you played the other two games.
I played as a Rogue Archer Dalish Female Elf my first time through DAI, I plan on playing again sometime in the future. I know if you play as a Mage you pretty much pwn the game but I like being an archer. The storyline for DAI is fun, I will admit the ending was quite anticlimactic, if you are around or near level 20 by the time you move onto the end you will beat it very quickly. But playing through the game to me was much more fun than the ending, it's all about the side missions and relationships, etc.
