I believe the story started when Rikku showed Yuna a sphere that contained a video recording of a man who looked similar in many ways to Tidus. Now that Yu Yevon, Sin, and Spira's "Spiral of death" are gone, we have a supposed "Eternal Calm", thanks to High Summoner Yuna and Guardians. Next, we see another great story for the world of Spira, more of Yevon's history and secrets are revealed and the story of Shuyin, the man that causes Spira's next Struggle and Tidus' Doppelganger, unfolds, with the help of Yuna and her gang of sphere hunters.

I know that I'm probably in the minority, but I don't hate FFX-2. I do agree that it's not as good as Final Fantasy X was, but I don't think that means it's automatically a bad game. Sure it got cheesy at times, but I found the new stuff it showed us about Spira interesting. Shuyin was a pretty interesting villain. And I found the battle system to be enjoyable. And, damn if I didn't work my ass off to get the Perfect ending just so that I could get my happy ending.

I have a love hate relationship with this game. When I got it, I put it in and that damn song played. Of course my TV was loud and suddenly I get this surge of questions about why I'm playing it among my so-called friends. The story and the way Spira's history unfolds with the spheres is interesting and tried my hardest to find those damn spheres because I was invested in it. However when I beat the game, I never had the urge or desire to ever pick it up again. It also made me feel a bit dirty. I loved Yuna's personality and design, she was done well. In this game I felt she was hyper sexualized... I realize that might not be a word but it works. I'm all for her breaking from the conservative routine, but it was too drastic. Rikku's dress down was strangely predictable. I do have one question though. Where did Paine come from? I feel there should have been more explanation to that.

I also did not HATE this game. I thought it was alright. I did play it in college, through a haze of.. umm.. stuff that a lot of college age people partake in ...
I have not touched this game since my first play through and I am super pumped to give it another go on the PS4 (in only 2 months time!).
What I remember is that the class system seemed fast. Like change on the fly fast. That was hard for me to wrap my head around at first. I had just come off FFX and part 2 what a bit divergent. Stylistically, it seemed to fit right in. I didn't find the clothing overly sexualized in any way, but I could see how it could be interpreted that way. If anything, I enjoyed the dresspheres that made them beefy warriors more than anything else.

I would say I really enjoyed this game as opposed to just not HATING it. The first chapter definitely leaves a bit of a bitter taste in your mouth because it just kind of makes me wonder "what am I even doing in this game?" but for me the tone and pace of the game really picked up after Chapter 1 ended. I do have to say that the battle system was much improved in the international HD version since you can fight with recruited monsters and all that. I'm hoping that Joe and schweiss will tackle it (whenever that happens) with an open mind if possible because it really does have it's redeeming qualities.

Then X-2 came out and it felt very similar to what I had been doing in Tactics and V. I also experience the time between X and X-2 in real time, so I appreciated seeing the old areas and characters. I tried my best to ignore the Yuna Raider chatter that was going around the net at release, but I did end up finding some of those parts annoying. Overall, I was glad I got the game when it came out. Having both the games together in HD for the PS3 was not the same experience. As soon as I beat X, I watched the Eternal Calm. It was not the same. I think I need a certain amount of time to pass between the playing of X and X-2. Maybe not the same length as before, but I need some decompression time between games.
