I know you guys are rapidly approaching FFXI. I played the game for a few weeks around the time it launched in the US. I hated it. I had already been an MMO player for years and the MMOs I was playing were all better and more approachable than FFXI.
Now, years later, I've played even better MMOs than I had played back then. I'm currently invested in FFXIV as well.
What can you tell me about FFXI that might convince me to go back and give it a shot? What makes it unique? Why would I choose it over a modern MMO instead?

Fireworks during summertime? Auction House? Personalized Bank and storage? Well, they are pretty much standards now, but those things blew me away when I first played FFXI. Personalized cut scenes and actual quests to do (cough, Everquest-with-barely-any-quests, cough). Again, standards, but new in their day.
So, play FFXI as an antique to see how far MMOs have come. Or play, because getting to play with some of the listeners and the hosts will be its unique feature.

Only selling point is to play with ffu fans, I still have the game but can't bring myself to go thier again, plus my pc died so thiers that. It seems to be a bit better since I stopped and I lost about 90days of solid game time into it so it's not horrible but it's a big time investment
