I was playing Dragon Age: Inqusition and besides the game getting a little boring I really loved the battle system. Have you guys played the game? You can run in nd hack and slash your way through every fight and switch between all characters in your party, but they also have the option that takes an overhead view and pauses the action while you select what each of your party do and then can control speeding up the time to watch them in action from some pretty cool angles to boot. It kind of gives you the feel and control of a turn based rpg if that's the sort of thing your into. I'm a big fan of the turn based so I loved this option. And having played the XV demo I found that I kept on wishing I had this same option. What are your thoughts?

I want to play this more now. I thought your question was going to be about the future of turn based RPGs, not just about the XV demo.
I think the future looks good. Square is testing it out with Bravely Default. Atlus keeps it alive in the US with Persona, SMT, and Devil Survivor. The Alchemists of games also use turn-based combat, but usually with some sort of twist.

I suppose you are right, I should have specified future of turn base in final fantasy. Bravely default i have been meaning to play... But handheld games don't really find their way into my game collections. Also im not farmiliar with many of the other games. Are they on Xbox one or Wiiu?

I'm pretty sure that FF16 will be turn based since its being made by the FF6/FF9 team.

Almost all the games I mentioned are on PS2/PS3. One of the reasons I went team Sony when choosing a console is that I was told that it had the most turn-based RPGs ( the whole JRPG genre). So far it seems to be holding up. The other games I mentioned are for the DS. No Xbox or WII exclusive titles.
A turn-based FF16 would satisfy this grognard, but it seems that Bravely Default is designated the turn-based franchise for now.

I googled some of the atlus tittles, deffinitly look like they would be up my alley. I do have a ps2 and PS3, I've always been a Sony fan but as it goes im usually to broke to buy a console. So the ps4 will be on my list but my brother bought a Xbox one because he likes shooters. Gotta say that is a pretty angering system. But yes I'm hopeful for FF XVI, Im also not mad about XV, the more i play the demo the more I get the hang of it. But action games like that do get boring to me after a while and I don't see myself putting 100+ hours into it. I'll just have to suck it up I suppose and buy bravely default and then plan some physiotherapy sessions for the inevitibale pain in my neck.

Hope that Final Fantasy delves back into a traditional ATB system in the future. Sure XV's demo is awesome, but there is something so fulfilling about sitting back and watching your characters do what you tell them, I just want to control all my party members during battle again.
