I love FFX but I do acknowledge some of the problems the game has.
I think that out of all the main FF games FFX has the worst final dungeon and final boss in the series.
I remember the first time playing and getting to the final dungeon area I was very disappointed... then the final boss was disappointing as well.
Hear me out, FF1-9 all had a fairly long final dungeon and they were usually the best dungeons in the entire game (Like Ultimecia's Castle in FF8) The final dungeons were always about testing you and giving you a large area to explore with many winding paths, secret areas and boss fights and treasure chests to open. Not only that but the final dungeons also had really cool unique designs. Even FF13 had a good final dungeon.
Now look at FFX's final dungeon, you arrive inside Sin and the 1st part of the dungeon is just a bunch of fog/mist covering the area and there are just Yu Yevon symbols glowing on the floor and there is just 1 main path to reach the end of the area, there are some tiny chests on tiny branching paths but you can literally walk through it all in like 1 minute.
Then you get to the final Seymour fight which in my opinion is better than the final boss fight... but more on that later.
So you finish the 1st area of the dungeon and arrive at the 2nd area. I first thought that this was the real final dungeon area and expected it to get good like the older FF dungeons.
Its mostly just an abandoned city, 1 straightforward path with a few chests hidden on the side along the way. You get to the save point in like 1 minute and then its final boss time.
Very boring area and no exploration.
I think FFX final dungeon is the most uninspired one in the series and they just tried to finish it quickly in my opinion.
Then there is the final boss.
As you know each FF game since FF2 has at least 2 if not 3 forms or final boss fights.
In FFX you get to Jecht... you beat him... then comes Yu Yevon... I was like hell yeah here comes another final boss like Necron.
Nope. Autolife gets cast on your entire party. You could be level 10, keep your eyes close and mash X and still win this fight it would take long but you would still win. I don't appreciate the final boss in an FF game being so easy that its impossible to lose. The random enemies in the dungeon were stronger than the final boss lol.
Some people argue that Yu Yevon isn't the final boss but then that just leaves Jecht which would make FFX the only final fantasy after FF1 to only have 1 final boss fight and thats it.
What are your thoughts guys?
Do you think the final dungeon and final boss(es) in FFX are short and the worst ones in the main series compared to the other games?
