I tried playing Dragon Age Origins and also couldn't get into it. I didn't like the story or the gameplay mechanics.

Okay, mystic quest. I totally know that it's not a good game. It's pretty lame at parts. BUT it was the first rpg as a child that I was able to beat without my dads help. Something about it just holds a special place for me. Also, honorable mention to Breath of Fire 1 & 2. Those came close on the list.

In no certain order Final Fantasy 4 Final Fantasy 10 Lunar: The Silver Story Complete Suikoden Suikoden 2 Paladins Quest Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (read below for reason if curious) Final fantasy 6 Final fantasy 8 Lufia and The Fortress of Doom Okay, mystic quest. I totally know that it's not a good game. It's pretty lame at parts. BUT it was the first rpg as a child that I was able to beat without my dads help. Those came close on the list. -Astrum First RPG always hold a special place :-) Everyone remembers there and it is always a special experience, mine was Mario Legend of the 7 stars and it was an awesome experience, been chasing the high ever since. |

And it had some of the best music in the series. |

This will probably be me soon. Its good but there is one part i hated..... "The Fade" dear lord hated that sloth demon for that, heard there is a glitch to avoid it hope that is true for my next play-through. I think that part is generally hated so much that people created a mod to skip it. I never beat DAO on my computer (although I did several times on 360) but I remember that I used that mod to skip that entire section and just get the stat bonuses because it's such a waste of time. |

Seriously though guys,if you have not played the 4 original .hack games you must. It is my favorite non final fantasy rpg series. It has a great cast of characters, good story, and probably the best non turn based rpg battle system I've ever experienced. On a side note the Hack Sign anime is pretty good as well

Chrono Cross was my first PS1 game and it's still my favorite game ever.
Also, the Disgaea series is so stupidly fun, just because I love seeing my characters get so strong over time.
