So after getting bitten by the 60 FPS bug, I am ready to make the move to PC gaming. I have seen the power of higher end machines and it was good.
That being said, does anyone have any good experiences in building their own rig? I have built two computers and I am confident that I can build another one. The thing that makes me nervous is compatibility. This leads me to my next question. Does anyone know of a good compatibility website that would allow me to input the parts I want to check for any potential mis-matching?

Here's what I went with
i7 4790K
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Single DDR3 (plenty of room for expansion later)
Asus Z87 PRO LGA 1150 Motherboard
I am going to use my existing 9800GTX and power source for now as crappy as it is. This will get upgraded this summer. My major problem is that it is old and only has an HDMI mini port, which is using an adapter to run it through my reciever. This is not ideal and I am sure that I have quality loss from this. I have a power source picked out though: SeaSonic S12G-650watts.
I am not going to run SLI, so I will probably end up getting a Geforce 970 or 980, depending on ebay prices.
I am also using my old case, which is a behemoth so I am not worried about room inside. I also have a fairly new optical drive and HDD. Depending on if this computer can handle games better than the PS4, I will get another HDD as well. I haven't built a computer in a few years and while I have the jist of it (I have built 2 so far) this is by far the most money I have thrown down at once for upgrades.

That should be fine. As long as the case you're using is compatible.

My case is ancient. Maybe ten years old. But it's gigantic. I'd like more airflow but space is of no concern. Right now after upgrading my mobo and processor, I'm able to run ffxiv at 60+ fps. I know that's no fear of modern gaming, but it's a start.
