So I don't know about all of you, but as an impressionable young Bane, I saw a whole lot of TV in the 1980's. Pre-stringent censorship TV. I bore witness to things that are probably not too bad but for whatever reason absolutely stuck with me to this day. This is the first in a ten part post. Feel free to share things that horrified you as a child.
#10 Zeke the Plumber
When I was a kid, I used to watch me some Nickelodeon. Salute Your Shorts was a great show that I admit I still watch at the beginning of summer. This episode really freaked me out. Maybe this clip can explain why.

Lmao this is epic, I could imagine how this could be scary as a kid, but all i can do is laugh seeing it at my age.
Something i was scared of as a kid would have to be Knightmare on Elm street, not sure which one it was but there is one scene where a girl is turned into a cockroach and then crushed that gave me nightmares for weeks. Know i look back at it and i just find the whole scene laughable.
I am of the belief that as we grow older we get more and more jaded, things that once thrilled us are boring, things that scared us are laughable, which is why i can play games I used to play as a child and love and grow bored in minutes....truly a shame if people could only tap into the wonder they had as a child life would just feel more exciting.

#9 Fuzzbucket
I saw this movie on a "Free Disney Weekend" back in late 80's or early 90's when premium channels would offer free weekends to get people to subscribe. It was demented and the whole idea of these creatures running around freaked me out. This is an example of when something was probably meant to be cute, but the special effects made it scary instead.

I only have 1 thing from my childhood that scared the bajesus juice out of me and gave me nightmares and a internal under the skin constant fear. Does anyone remember the Disney movie bamby. Well skip ahead to the part where the wolf shows up about to kill the mom and the very scene where all you can see is yellowed and bloodshot hungry eyeballs staring back at you just a few inches from your face if you were like me"watched all TV 10inchesfrom my face". Those eyes and any others that were wide bloodshot and not attached to a anything staring back at you from the darkness. That is my main fear.

Most just horror movies and creepy stuff. Like kids cartoons or movies that pushed the boundaries wayyyyy too much and a G or PG movie went into creepy PG-13 territory and as a young kid it was creepy.
Stuff like
Chucky from Child's Play Freddy from Nightmare on Elm Street Leatherface
other horror characters from that time
Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers never scared me much.
Movies like Poltergiest (which was PG) scared me... that clown scene omg. The Exorcist and the (Captain Howdy) character...
Funny how most of those movies and characters I like now haha.

Interestingly enough, horror movies never scared me. I was introduced to horror films at a very young age through some older friends of mine. It definitely shaped what I enjoy to watch as an adult, but it didn't make me a sociopath. Ironically, I grew up to be an elementary school teacher.
I watched terrible things like Toxic Avenger and Faces of Death (footage of actual deaths) by the time I was in 5th grade. Sick? Maybe. Nowadays, I am completely desensitized to violent movies. I usually put in something like Evil Dead or Texas Chainsaw to fall asleep to.

While I am here, let's hit up the next entry on my list.
#8 Orca:The Killer Whale
In 1977, this movie was direct competition for Jaws and was actually a very similar movie. Maybe it was the horrendous sounds of a killer whale slaughter. Maybe it was the hideous orca fetus. Maybe it was those killer whale eyes...
This movie affected me more than anything I've ever seen. I think it awoke some sort of primal fear in me.
I suffer from thalassophobia. I am not trying to be funny or even make light of this. I am irrationally afraid of ocean life. I have tried to explain this to people, but essentially even thinking about being in open water stresses me out. For me, it is a fear of what lies beneath. Sharks don't scare me because they are merely instinctual. Whales though.... There is intelligence behind those eyes. Just thinking of a whale's eye gives me goosebumps. Seriously, did you know that whales will lift their heads out of the water to look at people in boats.

Tall grass. I hated being forced to walk into grass That's super tall. Ugh. Like really tall. I still have a tall grass issue. Cause I'm a baby. I get made fun of and asked if I am scared of wild Pokemon battles.
Other than that I was also terrified of any movies with bugs crawling under your skin. I'm good with it now.

Some people are scared of clowns, the dark, pickles...For me it's just grass thats really tall. Also we have poisonous spiders here in Ohio and to die by poison sounds terrible!

For today's entry, I thought I would illuminate you all regarding my opinion on Disney movies. Some Disney movies have some very frightening scenes, especially the older ones. I have handpicked a few that really got to me as a kid.
#7 Scary Disney
Please do ignore the horrible host. Someday, when I delve into internet blogging and video making, I will make this video myself and it will be way better. This guy makes me want to smack that stupid orange hat right off his head.
Anyhow, there are some real gems there. I might replace the Haunted Mansion with Monstro from Pinocchio (for reasons mentioned in the posts above). I saw Something Wicked This Way Comes when I was like 8 and it messed me up.
I was fortunate enough to be on the "Honorable Mention" ride. It was seriously intense. Black outs, super loud noises, a giant scary alien. They did those things like a 4-D movie like have hot breath blow in your face in the pitch black and warm alien spit splattering on you. Screaming. Basically, rumor has it that it scared people way too much and they had to pull the ride.
The Donkey Transformation scene is also famous. It is certainly something that has stuck with me forever....

Alrighty, so today brings us way back. This was made during the formative years of my childhood.
#6 Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue
So this was an attempt by the government to push some anti-drug propaganda onto the impressionable youth of 1980's America. While the show itself isn't terrifying, the "Bad Trip" scene was really messed up and had a very weird feel to it that stuck with me. If only anti-drug campaigns worked...

The episode of GI Joe where Shipwreck gets brainwashed by Cobra. Melty people and mind-fuckery all around.
