At first I brushed over this thread but yeah, I was in a band...sorta. We kind of cheated and used pre-made loops on all of our songs but one or two. My friend and I were really big into LMFAO (kind of sad looking back on it) and oh how we aspired to be like them, we even gave ourselves stage names; I was BlueBass and my friend was YellowTreble. I was in a band from age 15-19 but we ended abruptly when we all had to go our separate ways to college unfortunately. We were called In Echo and our style was under the jam band genre umbrella with influence from pink Floyd,phish, grateful dead, Dave Mathews band, and some blues music. We played some covers but we mainly did alot of improv jams and originals
We didn't record much music since we didn't have the gear, but we did play a bunch of shows at various venues and bars. Some of us still get together and jam here and there but damn I sure miss the old days. By the way i played bass in the band but also play guitar just for fun now

I played music with friends all the time growing up and still do occasionally now. Started with guitar at 13 then moved onto drums at 15 then started to do singing and screaming vocals (I play hardcore/metal) at 17. 20 now and the only thing I still practice is vocals (because I can do that while driving and I drive a lot lol) Sometimes play and record stuff with friends from time to time for kicks.
Honestly, it was a big passion of mine growing up but I just changed as I got older. I used to think that I wanted to tour and make it big in the industry until I realized that not only does it have to consume your entire life for that to work, but you need to find 3-4 other people who are just as passionate and willing to make the same sacrifice... and THAT is hard to come by.

I used to be in a punk band that changed names twice over our 3-4 year lifespan. Over the course of those years, the names got better, but we never did.
