Loving the FFXI review episodes! One thing (and it's good news!) FFXI was not Uematsu's last Final Fantasy! He composed a majority of the music for FFXIV 1.0. Though, unfortunately, he didn't do any for A Real Reborn. ={

Good call. I also didn't know that. So all of his tracks got scrapped for Realm Reborn?Is there any way to listen to that original music?

After FFXI he left Square Enix plain and simple. He was no longer an employee there.
He was not involved with FFX-2 He only did 2 tracks for FFXII as a freelance composer (Gilgamesh theme and the main title theme at the opening screen) He was not involved with any of the FF13 games.
He was brought back for FFXIV as a freelance composer BUT he is not an employee of Square Enix and hasn't been since FFXI.
I think thats what they meant when they said it was his last game at Square.

I know he didn't do the X-2 soundtrack, but I thought it was the last really good one. At least the last one that sounded like FF.
XIII was...ehh. I might have to check out the XIV tunes, since Uematsu is basically my fav <3

XIV, especially the menu music, is very reminiscent of Uematsu.

I might have to check out the XIV tunes, since Uematsu is basically my fav <3 There are unconfirmed rumors that he was involved in writing this FFX-2 track which was leftover from FFX before he left Square Enix and that the new guys that took over used this song he wrote but he wasn't credited since it was only written by him and technically Square Enix owned it and they changed some things around for it. I remember at the time that a lot of FF fans took this rumor to heart and said it was secretly his farewell song to Sakaguchi and Square Enix.

I actually love this particular track- the music of the games was always very important to me. Like if you're going to tell these stories, and make them hugely interactive and visually stunning, it makes sense to have the sound be just as majestic. We all need to use majestic more often. Majestic as fuck. For the first ten games, I can hear a track and recognize which game it's from, and can usually get the title right. <3 Uematsu
